Poetry : First Love

Everyone has atleast once in his lifetime composed a few lines for a special someone, a beautiful day, to mark an occasion, a toast or just to put his/her feelings into words. So what were your first few couplets(not in the strict sense :P) as a poet and what spurred you on :) A snippet of my first attempt : See the clouds drift Broken like a glass But they madly swoon Blinded by the full moon.

I was writing stories but not poems for many years but creative writing workshops tend to favour poetry as it is quicker to read through so I eventually started writing verse too. My first ever line was 'Love, where is thy cave? Where do you hide?'. It got worse after that.

Haha i am still a novice here. But looking back at our own work in future amazes us. Do recommend some good poets to take inspiration from.

@akshat007 Check out US poet, Billy Collins too, for plainspoken and profound verse.

Nice! :) Great to see another poet here. :) Interesting you used the word "snippet". The kinds of "snippets" I have done (by definition) have been things of thirty words or less--counting the words in your verse--which are less than thirty--perhaps that's what you meant?

Yes I meant so but didn't think it would catch someone's attention. Nice catch :) So do you have a snippet to share
