Say more than yes or no!

Gah I hate it when I get one word answers. Yes, No, Maybe, Ok, Sorry. Those are the worst. You can say "Yes of course or No I'm sorry, or Maybe Not, or well you get the drift. "No" or "yes" I just feel as if you are brushing me off. So please for love of Garfield do me the favor of adding more words to your one word answer. It's soo annoying when people just use the one word! *Waiting for a certain Sarcastic Lamb to come and make my day* Is this a pet peeve for you?

that doesn't seem to bother me at all. At least you get an answer. I find it more annoying when you ask a question and you go no answer at all or they look at you like you grew a second head, when a one word answer is all you needed.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I would see that would be irritating if the question called for more, then the one word. Sometimes they don't. But we all have our own quirks or pet peeves. I understand yours.

I know what you mean. One word answers makes me think that the person isn't really interested at all.

OK - I hope you appreciate the joke of my other response, which - to be frank - was to be expected! I agree with you - a response should do you the courtesy of taking your post seriously and making a constructive comment. I also deplore responses that completely miss the point of what has been said - if a specific question is asked, please either answer it or stay silent. The danger is that a discussion will then start on a related but otherwise off-focus topic.

OK, there's a couple of things that could be wrong. (Please understand that I'm not being 'personal' or critical - just that if newbies happen to come across this discussion, they may have an 'Ahh!' moment). 1) Yes or No answers are, strictly speaking, against the Guidelines, so if you are feeling pissed by them, you CAN report them (especially if, when you look at the person's profile, you find that's all they're doing). 2) Is it possible that the questions you ask are capable of 'yes' or 'no' answers? If so, make sure that any questions you ask (especially in the title) use the words 'How'. 'When', 'Where', 'Why' or 'What'. Answers to questions which are prefaced with those words CANNOT be answered (sensibly) with 'yes' or 'no'!
