I take it there is no rule such as ''original" content only here at myLot

Unless I have missed something, I don't see a rule that says, "original material only" or other such words here on myLot.
I bring that up since I was just on several other sites nosing around and I spotted several articles there that I also see here on myLot.
It might not be breaking a rule here, but it certainly is breaking rules other places.

The first question I'd ask is, were you quite sure that the articles had been posted by the same person (and published by them on both sites). One favourite technique of plagiarists, of course, is to take something from one site and post it under their own name. The more cunning ones will run the article through an article spinner which changes some of the words so that it looks 'original' to a plagiarism checker.

@MALUSE If myLot admin is the one that told you, then there is no need to confirm it. Owl is very wise and knows a lot, but GoAskAlice (who is really an Alex) is the official word on the subject. If he said it, then that is the way it is unless he (Alex) clarifies and says something different.

@owlwings - I wouldn't have asked the question if I wasn't quite sure the names were the same. These aren't plagiarized articles.

@MALUSE I would say that is correct, if you take them down from other sites and give time for them to de-index then you can post them here.

I've written here about some of the same subjects I wrote about at B. The writing is mine and is true, although it's worded differently because I don't remember exactly what I wrote. Is that wrong? I don't want to break any rules, but there are some different people here who haven't read my posts elsewhere. What's the official verdict?

I have always done that. You tend to write a different style for a different site.

@GardenGerty yes I haved noticed that too as I find I sort of words things differeently for BB than I do for mylot. Just two different places and now I find Im more comfortable here asd its so empty in BB

@1creekgirl I think it's perfectly acceptable to write on the same subject, as long as you word it differently. I think what we're talking about here is people posting the exact same article on both sites, and they are often doing it at the same time too (from my observation).

That's odd. I'm sure you're not the only one that would see the identical posts. How could someone think they could get away with writing the exact same post?

the sites rely 'n others to alert 'em to that fact. they've not the staff to ensure that folks follow their simple rules. 'pparently some folks've not the morals 'n do's they wish - callin' foul play when caught.

@crazyhorseladycx you are so right a few years back on BB I wrote an articleand intheoments my friends told me someone had stolen my article and put their name on it but were too stupid to change the writing at the bottom of the post where it said one original article and graphic by P Hatley. how stupid can you get?

@Sheilamarie - people don't 'think' or figure no one will notice. I notice lots of things after doing this since 08.

i've seen that's well 'n folks get mighty ticky when ya mention such to 'em. 'that other place' clearly says ya can use what'cha wrote there elsewhere - 'long's ya add 't least 400 characters to it 'fore ya do.
i aint figured if'n its a game 'f sorts? if'n folks jest don't care 'r what. 'course, how many diff'rent ways can ya word what'cha ate fer breakfast 'r all the funny videos ya ran across that day? sigh.... rinse, recycle, reuse

@crazyhorseladycx - We all have our own style of writing. If I saw your writing on two sites I would certainly know it was you.

I have noticed the same thing. I am a member of other writing sites, and I saw that someone posted the same discussion here and on one of the other sites. The usernames look very similar, and I am quite sure that it is the same person. I think that it is a risky thing to do. He/she might not get in trouble here on myLot, but many other sites don't let you recycle your posts if you haven't deleted the original post.

@abbygreenhill i, too, would like to know the official detailed mylot rule about reposting the same exact post from other sites to mylot (or submitting first to mylot then reposting elsewhere).
i hope to see that rule written in black and white so we can all refer to it.
other sites have an "only one copy online" policy, so i'll be watching and waiting for it, too.

I'll ask @PhredWreck to post the name of the myLot person for you ask that question to.

@PhredWreck I read that a while ago, but I think the question is really regarding other sites - like Bubbs - they want original and if you repost the stuff here that breaks their rule.

I think you should have wrote the article yourself and not stole someone else's work.

@jstory07 - we are talking about using your own work in more than one place.

If it is determined that they are plagiarized then they should be reported. As for multiple posts in different sites, I think there's a rule somewhere that it shouldn't be allowed. Or is it?
Let's ask @goaskalice

Honestly, I just don't get what's so difficult about coming up with something new. It's a social platform after all and there are so many things to write about!

Yes it does under help. Here I copied and now pasting it here - Posting plagiarized or copyrighted content - We take this very seriously. If there is an article you would like others to see and discuss, then post a link to that article along with your own commentary. - You can't do that.

i think this shouldn't be encouraged. but thinking in writer point of view getting ideas from different sites against same issue is not that much punishable... but discussing in different ways can be encouraged and not the same content in same view...

To me that just means you wrote if from your own mind , and did not copy paste someone else's material. Plagiarizing is illegal on any writing sire and is illegal in the US too. Do that i n college and you get kicked out.We all are writers so we all have imaginations so we should have no problem wikh being original. I'm sure mylot does not want us to use other people's works either.

that or people copied it and it wasn't theirs to begin with perhaps

I think it would depend on whether it is your work or someone else's. I do know many sites that allow the use of your own content on more than one site, so long as you own it. Others want the content to be on their site only and usually that is clearly stated.
