Left overs for dinner tonight!

Yesterday I was head chef at home while my wife was working. I set to and made a really nice and tasty chicken casserole. My wife complained that it was salty. Yes I put salt in it to enhance the flavour she tends to go very easy on the salt not that I am heavy handed with salt but I do believe that you have to use some seasoning in food to make it tasty. I will admit to being a little heavy handed with black pepper though. My wife was out with friends for the day so this evening I finished the rest of the casserole off. It was even tastier today I guess the chicken was able to fully absorb all the herbs and spices. The gravy was delicious. It was a nice easy dinner this evening because all I had to do was heat it up! I am finishing the evening now with a nice cup of coffee and reading a few posts before I hit the sack! I hope you have all had a great day and whatever you ate this evening was just as tasty!

Some dishes taste even better the second day. I think it is always true of Italian dishes. When the food rests, it has time for the flavors to mix and mellow together.

I must say I do like my spices and herbs, I do not enjoy bland food at all, so your dinner sounds delicious. Tonight I had spaghetti with a tomato, parsley, onion, garlic and mixed herb sauce, it was tasty. Enjoy your coffee, and have a good night.

The more salt the better! I like salty food although I know it is not healthy. I only just noticed I was not following you until now! Weird I thought I was!

Thank you for following. Oh oh I must be the bore that I am and warn you to be careful of over salting things! In moderation it is ok you need a certain amount of sodium but not too much! Mind your kidneys!

I'm very light-handed with salt because of my high blood pressure but food does taste better when it's seasoned. I love those heat & eat meals and enjoy nights when I don't' have to cook

We usually cook everything from scratch and rarely cook ready made meals. That way at least you can control what goes into it and down your neck!

I love leftovers! My husband has kidney disease so everything we eat has absolutely NO salt on it ... but we can use other herbs.

The bizarre thing Deborah is that my wife used to be heavy handed with salt I used to tell her not too much but she has now gone completely the other way and uses none!

Nice that you made the meal. You can always put salt and pepper on the table, rather than in the meal while cooking. Then, everyone is happy.

Although we have condiments on the table I rarely add extra unless of course my wife has cooked a saltfree meal!

@garymarsh6 If you ever see a cooking show, they sometimes complain about lack of seasonings. What they really meant (I figured this out after awhile) is that the dish lacked salt. I'm with you. I love salt.

I never add salt to my cooking, Then again I seldom cook and can't taste the salt anyhow. I know that curry is always better next day. Sounds as if your chicken went down land the gravy sounds perfect

Usually I would never eat the same food two days in a row but it was ok tonight!

I have noticed that many time the casseroles are better the day after. About salt, I agree with you, food needs some seasoning to be tasty.

What good is a fridge if we are not using it to our benefit. We too have left overs which come in handy at times.

Sometimes leftovers are definitely the best meals of all. As you say, the flavours get a chance to emerge properly.

My husband cooks too and he tends to put more salt than I do in the food I cook. He's away for a few days on business but he spent a lot of time yesterday in the kitchen making sure I have lots of tasty things to eat while he's gone. He knows I'll go buy a hamburger or a pizza instead of cooking for myslef. I'm spoiled, I know and i love it!
