I am talking about the 1st Birthday party of my lady boss’ daughter , which I attended last Saturday , October 17 .
It was held at the third floor of a caterer’s building . It was raining , yet I was surprised that there were lots of kids in costumes since the theme was Disney prince and princesses.
As you can see in the picture , the kids have their own area where to sit and eat while the parents were at the other side .
There were candy stations , fries and other kiddie food stations . But of course there’s the buffet for the matured guests , while the kids have theirs also , given to them in plates already .
It was a fabulous party , with official photographer and a one who takes a video of the whole event .
It was the first time I have attended a fabulous kiddie party . I thought only weddings can be that fabulous .
But well , the hosts are moneyed , so why won’t it be fabulous ? Right ?

Looking at the photo, oh yes, it does look like it was quite a fancy party for a 1 year old! In my parent's generation, anyone in the family who had a baby turning 1 was almost obligated to throw a big party - and it was like a reception indeed, but certainly not fancy in today's standards. In my generation, none of us carried that tradition - we just had a simple immediate family party. Well hope you had a great time - did you bring home a goody bag?

You are lucky that you got to enjoy such a fabulous party of your boss's daughter. Hope you would have enjoyed yourself over there.
Yes, you are right that those who have plenty of money could throw these kind of parties to showcase their money.

@SIMPLYD - You did not invite us and you enjoyed all the party yourself?
I agree with you that these kinds of parties give us a good chance to socialize with others and give us an opportunity to enjoy ourselves.

You mean the birthday of the cute girl in ping to the right of your Lady Boss. She is so cute. Happy Birthday to her.
Let me think about the money and fabulous part....
Cake is missing.... Dont tell me those rich people dont have cakes on their birthday party And a Birthday Party is never Fabulous without at least the strawberry cake (if not the other preferred ones)

We actually don't have to spend so much on things like this .
What is important is we have given them a party even if it is a simple one , document it with pictures , so that when they grow up , they will see how it was and be happy .
Yes, it is a very wonderful kids and adults party after all. And the boss' daughter , being only 1 year old just keep looking at the children .
Well, she can see them when she grows up into a kid because there was a video done .

@SIMPLYD See, a party of that magnitude for a one year old seems over the top. If she was lets say, sweet 16, that would be a birthday for that girl to remember. I agree, small and simple is just as good. We all have to do within our means.

Obviously they can afford such fabulous celebration for a kid. I used to think that for kids celebrating birthdays either at Jolibee or McDonald will make them happy already. Last month I also attended a lavish birthday celebration for a 7 year old girl daughter of my husband's niece. I thought it was too lavish for a 7 year old, but they have the money anyway and I enjoyed the food so I just have to close my mouth.

@SIMPLYD yes it is too lavish for a celebration. Just imagine they even paid for a party organizer, rented an expensive place for the party, paid for the host of the party, the magicians, photo booth, & there are carts of various junkies, like candies, doughnuts, ice cream, popcorns, jellies, apart from the buffet meal comprising of so many dishes. I could not help but think of poor kids who don't even eat 3 times a day.

Precisely . Specially nowadays that there are a lot of additional stuff to do like the video , program , getting a decorator and event coordinator . In the olden days , it was just a simple party with a clown .

Yes, indeed . I was really amazed at how they can spend so much for a one year old party. Well, even the Christening was also fabulous . But this one is more fabulous !

but u can plan ur b.day at less cost too.. when u plan and prepare all the things at from decorations to cake by ur self.. it will surely take less cost... i planned my baby harini varshana's first b.day in my home with a little princess theme.. every1 enjoyed it.. but i almost designed all decorations by paper by spending almost 1 hour/day for about 3 months and the outcome was really nice...

I'm sure any parents who could afford would splurge for their child's birthday which is a once a year event. For your friend it is a baby shower which is all the more important since it is the baby's first.
I'm sure everyone is happy despite the miserable weather outside and I must say your friend is definitely very resourceful with this kind of celebration party.

I would never spend that much on a first birthday party. But it does sound like you had a good time.
