What a Difference a Change of Scenery Can Make

My children just recently stared a new school yesterday. They thought that they were happy with their previous school, but in all reality it wasn't the best place for them. One of my daughters was getting F's because she kept pretending to be sick so she wouldn't have to go. She actually hated her teacher, who was a big bully if I must say so myself. I had another daughter who had gotten into a fight with another little girl. When asked about the fight, they only listened to the other girl's side, and made my daughter write a note about fighting even though the other little girl had been in several fights this yer already and my daughter had never been in one at school. My son was the only one who was doing okay there, and really didn't want to leave.
I thought for sure that the new schools wouldn't be much different. The only reason they changed school was a transportation issue, so I just knew that they were going to hate it there as much as they hated it at the previous school. I was pleasantly surprised as one by one (they each go to different schools now because of the grades that they are in), they came in the door with smiles on their faces and good news to share about the new schools.
My oldest daughter is happy that her school has a cheer leading program that she plans on joining next term, which will automatically improve her grades because you have to have a certain average to cheer. My youngest daughter is happy that she now has 5 friends that go to this new school, and she doesn't have to worry about the fighting at least for a while anyway. My son is happy because he actually had a good time even though he was pouting the whole time going there.
A change of scenery was exactly what my children needed. I'm glad the transportation started to be an issue. If it hadn't been, my kids would still be miserable.
