Coffee or Tea?

My heritage is Irish (yes, my grandparents and parents were born in Ireland) so I come from a long line of tea drinkers.
My grandmother would make her cup of tea and pour it into her saucer and drink it from the saucer. I don't know if this was something that she liked to do or if it was a tradition she was following as a tea drinker.
My grandfather, on the other hand, was a coffee drinker. When I was young he would sneak me some sips of his coffee and give me the "eyes" meaning this is a secret and don't tell anyone. I loved sharing this secret with my grandfather and I guess that's when I started my love affair with coffee.
Although I'm an occasional tea drinker, coffee is my side-kick and I love drinking it black.
As I sit here and enjoy my second cup of coffee this morning, I couldn't help but think of my grandfather and how proud he would be that I've inherited his love for coffee.
Now I'm passing on the secret coffee sipping to my granddaughter who loves to share my coffee. Maybe one day she'll have fond memories of me like I have of my grandfather.
We never know when we're creating a memory that can last a lifetime.

MY parents were both big tea drinkers. I do enjoy iced tea like you do but not so fond of hot tea

Once you get used to black coffee it will be hard drinking it any other way

I was a tea drinker and hated coffee until I met my husband, and several years later as he would make coffee every morning before we went to work, I gradually started to drink it for the convenience. I still can't make a proper pot of coffee and I am still a tea lover and would drink more of it if only someone would make it for me

I love the thought s and actions behind memories. Enjoyed reading this. My parents were coffee drinkers and drank it black. That's what I did too but tried it with milk once and gagged. Guess its black for life.

Isn't it funny how once you drink coffee black you can't add anything to it

@Marilynda1225 that slimy milk made me gag. I though maybe sugar and cream would be good but no. Once in a while at Tim Hortons I will order a coffee with cocoa, the chocolate hides any bad experiences.
