Antsy Anticipation

I am expecting two packages today. One is from Walmart, the other from Amazon. I love getting packages. It's more fun than the actual shopping experience. A big box of presents for me, or sometimes others. And although they aren't exactly surprises, I haven't ever seen them before except in pictures online. It's a party. I do that online tracking thing. I do it constantly. I refresh the page over and over. Some of it is unbridled excitement and some of it is caution. I had a lot of packages stolen a year or so ago, but I am sure the thefts began with the arrival of a certain tenant and stopped with her departure from the building. Still, you don't want to leave temptation in a brown cardboard box on your doorstep for too long. So I keep track of the tracking. For me, this is the best part of online shopping. The terrible anticipation. The suspense. The exuberance when what you receive is exactly what you ordered and it 's not the wrong size, the wrong color or broken before it arrives. Packages. Parcels. Boxes. Bags. I don't care, I love them all. Do you get excited when you are expecting a delivery?

Yes, I also check online when the package is due. Here we have to sign to get the package, so I want to be sure to be at home not to miss my delivery.

I try never to order anything that needs a signature, because I cannot hear anyone at the front door.

@Rollo1 Unfortunately this is the way it works here in Switzerland, you have to sign for every package they deliver. It is to avoid that people steal packages left in front of the door.

I love getting a package in the mail. It's exciting to finally have it delivered and being able to open it up.

@Rollo1 I just cashed out a $25 paypal there today, it will replace some funds I used for new phone cases and tablet case. The rest I will most likely use on Amazon. Now I have to start building up to that amount again.

When I have a package delivered I feel as if it is a present, although I did actually pay for it. Maybe it is because I don't get many presents sent through the mail anymore.

I am also waiting for an Amazon package. They shouldn't make me wait after all the distribution center is just 45 mins. down the highway!

I am pretty happy with the two day shipping, hardly ever could I justify paying for faster shipping, but it's nice to knjow that Amazon always delivers when you think they will and not a week later, etc.

IF you get it! ..... and I hate hanging around waiting for white vans to arrive, even tracking is not always the guarantee it should be, when it all falls apart with a muddle-headed driver, who delivers to the wrong number, wrong road and the company insist you signed for it

I find one company is more reliable as a shipper than another, but since I really wildly complained online about them, they've stepped up and done a better job.

I almost never pay extra for faster shipping. It is very expensive to do that.

I guess I have gotten over that. I sometimes forget all about it and I am taken by surprise when the person comes to deliver the parcel.

That happens to me very rarely. Most of the time I really need or want what I have ordered.

Exactly. Somehow, it's much more like a present, even if you bought it.

I have to track so I can send The Boy out to fetch them before they catch the eye of some passerby. You never know where the delivery guys will decide to leave something.

Packages are better than mail. Mail usually brings bills.

Oh, I know. I think we lost something very nice when we stopped sending actual cards and letters through snail mail.
