Fireworks, touchdowns and ASU

We live in Arkansas, not very far from the ASU campus and football stadium. Last night they had a game and every time they made a touchdown, they set off fireworks. The first time it happened, it scared my brother, me and the two dogs to death. We didn't know what it was. My brother jumped up to look out the window, grabbing his chest. He has angina and I guess the shock caused his chest to hurt. After a few minutes he was okay and it was then that he remembered that it was coming from the ASU stadium. Every time the fireworks went off, poor little Daisy would run to me with her tail tucked between her legs and Bella's hair raised on her neck as the frantically barked. Bella hates loud noises like that and when she is scared, she runs around like she is crazy and barks constantly. It's a different kind of bark than she normally does. The fireworks went on from around 6 until 10:45pm. They did a fireworks finale at the end and I had to hold Bella as we were in bed and she was trying to get up. I was so glad when it was finally over.

I think firewords for every touchdown is a little bit of overkill. It's disturbing at night, too.

It is disturbing at any time. All fireworks that make sound beyond a specific decibel level should be legally banned.

The stadium is not close to where a lot of people live.

@Rollo1 It was disturbing to us. Since we are so close, it sounded like bombs kept going off.

We have our annual UK November 5th fireworks and Bonfire Night coming up - a headache for the fire brigade and pet owners in Britain

When we all know this to be bad, why don't we ban it? I went so far as denying donations for idols last year and this year. My condition was, if you want donations, you should not have loud music and noise. Guess that was not acceptable.

@vandana7 at least that is an organized controlled display. Ours sells gunpowder fireworks to any adult so they go off in every garden, park, and alley. Many mishandle the fireworks so people get hurt and property burns

Really for every touchdown? That's a little too much. Even our teams here don't even do that only for homecoming they had fireworks.

Dogs hate those noises.. I guess all animals get disturbed by them. Our choco would neither eat or come out from under my bed for days ..We have a three day celebration here .I can't stand the loud noises either.

Dogs really do hate noises like that. Poor Daisy didn't know what was going on because she is a puppy and had never heard it before. Bella was very frantic, running around and barking. I usually have to hold her to calm her down.

They lasted a long time, they should be more considerate, they know that fireworks scare animals.

I agree. Bella and I had just gone to bed when the last set of fireworks went off and it was all I could do to hold her still.

I think that someone needs to say something. Maybe they don't because they feel they would be thought of as not team player or something.

I agree with Anja that is a bit excessive. I don't imagine there is much you can do about it but it sounds horrible.

It was excessive to us. They have had home games before and we never heard any fireworks. I don't know what was so special about that night.

Those places do not think of the noise the fireworks make and they scare children and animals.

You can imagine what it was like when I had the animal shelter at my place @simone10 and the July 4th fireworks went off at the local high school. Can you imagine the sound of 106 dogs? They were absolutely panick-stricken.

@simone10 I went out and spent time with each dog; talking and petting them, and gave them a dog cookie. I would do that during thunder and lightning storms too; even if it was in the middle of the night.

I don't know why one person's pleasure is allowed to disturb another person's peace and quiet. One of the Kardashian clan was allowed to wake up an entire community in the middle of the night (one a school night no less). Seems wrong.
