Why Aren't I an Investment Banker Yet?

At a recent support-group meeting for brain-injury 'survivors' (though I still like the term "conquerors" better), I again saw that the people are indoctrinated with the 'dogma' that "you've got to be employed in order to live."
I'm not arguing for or against that ... it's a fact---at least in the 'everybody says so and no one's saying any other way'-sense. And a survivor-friend of mine has been struggling to get a good job for a while now---she thought she had one; but her disability 'stigmatizes' her to co-workers, and their 'treating her like an invalid' made the job too hard on her self-esteem.
(She has average/above-average motor-skills, but is partially-blind and has a speech-impediment & memory-problems.)
I'm currently 'not imprisoned by the dogma,' but I realize that means I'm 'precariously balanced atop a house of cards riding on the backs of many quid pro quo workers' (and that Quid pro Quo doesn't directly affect me, but rather it's their work for pay that goes to them ... my income is more-like 'a gift from the overflow of that system' ...)
If my 'precarious placement' should be upset by some unforeseen force, it would be good to have a back-up plan. (I'm sure my care-giver(s) have such a plan just-in-case, but--like Christians need Jesus-in-our-world even though we know Father Yahweh has things well-in-hand--I want to KNOW that I could 'restore my standing' with little trouble.)
If I were worried about that, I COULD look into the Americans With Disabilities Act---which Joy Turner, Attorney-at-Law, is giving a presentation-on at 6:30 pm (Monday) October 26, 2015 in a Citywide Stroke Support Group meeting at the American Heart Association office (5700 N. Portland, Oklahoma City OK). I hear the AWDA guarantees that I am awarded any job I apply-for.
So why aren't I an investment-banker, except for the facts that a) I'm too 'free' to stick to an employer's schedule, b) I'm too 'not anxious to go anywhere ' to arrange for transportation across The Sprawl and c) ... other reasons I'm not going to think-of?
I.e. What if someone builds an 'investment banking'-office in my neighborhood, and I charge over there and demand a job?
What IS 'investment-banking' anyway?

The ADA ensures that you aren't discriminated against on the basis of your disability and that you receive any and all reasonable accommodations that will allow you to perform the basic requirements of your job.
It does not guarantee that you will get any job you apply for simply because you apply for it, particularly when it's one you are not qualified for.

Thinking about it, I'm not even sure what 'investment banking' IS All I can guess is that it's basically 'tracking money for investors.' Is that in the right direction of 'the definition'?

I don't have the patience to go through the rigmarole of transportation just to do what I'm doing right here without it.
Either that, or I have the SUPERNATURAL patience to wait for people to come see the work I'm doing and pay me for it even though it's free and there's no risk of me stopping.
Other than that ... I'm doing well. Joined a support-group-or-three for integration back into 'society'
