Cryopreservation – is it for you?

When you die, what will happen to your body; will it be buried, laid in the family vault, cremated or buried at sea perhaps? Or have you ever considered having yourself frozen for posterity? It sounds a bit crazy but there is an industry building up around freezing your body, or if that’s too expensive then there is the option of just freezing your head.
Of course this raises a literally endless list of questions. How long will the company keep your body frozen? How will you even know if they don’t keep their side of the bargain? What if there’s a major power outage or some sort of natural disaster or war? If you have just your head frozen, who would donate their body so you could be revived whole again?
Have you ever considered this and been tempted by the idea?

I have never heard of the idea but it is not tempting to me. Of what benefit will it be to me or who i will leave behind. I think it would be too haunting when your love ones look at you and they know they can never interact with you

Cremation is for me. No worms or bugs and no waking up in another world. End of the story and that´s it.

@enlightenedpsych2 I don´t worry about that. It´s the bugs and worms that bother me.

I will do it if they succeed to resurrect someone. They had been doing this since the 1960's and there is still no progress.

@Fleura Immortality is one of my biggest obsessions so any opportunity to stay on earth forever is something I will grasp. for now I am just crossing my fingers that organ printing and nanobots will succeed.

@CaptAlbertWhisker staying around forever is different to dying and then coming back. When you die you lose all your rights and all your possessions so if you come back to life you have to start all over again as an adult with nothing. And anyway who would bring you back and why?

I have always thought I would get cremated. Cremation is not too expensive and I would not be taking up valuable space in a grave yard! I have never seriously thought about cryopreservation.

I am not tempted in the least. Who wants to come back to a world where everyone and thing you know is gone. I am perfectly happy with going into the afterlife without my body.
