In our area it is deer and elk hunting season and some few get a moose tag. My son who is 42 is an avid hunter and he went out and the first day he got his deer. My husband also has a license and tag but has not had a lot of time to hunt he will go out tomorrow and Sunday and part of Monday. Hope he gets his deer when he goes out. Would be nice to have it done and over then processed and behind us. It sure does help stretch the food larder through winter.
We have a lot of deer in our area. My son want's me to get a license too but I don't want to. First I am not big on hunting, tried that with my dad many many years ago. Could not shoot the deer, made me cry. Second we really don't need 3 venison and not room for it in my freezer. One is good and two will be plenty we will even share with our daughter and family if my husband gets his buck There is an early season of two weeks in October then what is known as a late season in November so good chance my hubby will get his deer. Does anyone else go hunting?

I haven't hunted in a really long time. But I do have friends who do, so I can always count on getting venison or moose meat in my freezer. Occasionally bear, though I am picky about my bear meat. I prefer my bear meat from bear who were taken in areas far from town, where they were eating only wild food, rather than from dumpster diving. It really does make a huge difference in the quality of the meat. Around here hunting is a way of life. People often rely on it to supplement food stocks or even as the mainstay of their meat supply.

I don't hunt but I sure enjoy dear and elk meat. I used to help my ex cut up the meet. His dad and older brother were avid hunters and we had a great deal made with them. if my ex and I would cut up the meat we would get some of it. It worked out well.

I've personally never gone hunting. I would like to try it at least once, if it goes well maybe a couple times. An elk would be interesting to try once, but only if there's freezer space available for all that meat. It would just get wasteful after that point.
