Some writers here are very fast

I sometimes struggle to keep up with the pace of activity on my notifications. I reply to one comment and half a dozen more arrive before I get back to the notifications page.
I am also impressed when I go to someone’s page because they just commented on mine to find they have been to six other pages in the few minutes that passed before I read their comment (as it actually arrived) and clicked through to their page.
I am the slowcoach bringing up the rear and likely to get left behind or picked off by the lions I expect.

I have so many other things to do each day that I just bounce in and out of here. But you're right, some folks write a lot.

That is funny, but seriously, you do fine. I know what you mean about the notifications though, as it happens to me all the time, and I end up forgetting which one I was doing. I find though, that if I check the title before I go back to the notifications page, then I know which one I just did and delete just that one, and move on to the next one. I am glad for the notifications though, as it lets me know that people are interacting with me, and for that I am so glad too.

I doubt that very much. We all work at our own pace and I'll go for days trying to work through my notifications. The problem is we don't do things the same way around here, we all have to figure out our own way. Many that write and interact here aren't working outside the home and many are also retired. They may be the ones that you see responding and commenting while you're still scrolling through your notification. I doubt we'll ever keep up, so I'm not even trying.

@MarshaMusselman I guess it saves them writing just to cut and paste what someone else wrote but it should be obvious that readers will spot it quickly so it is quite a dumb cynical thing to try

I hadn't thought about that before, Valerie. Maybe some are just replying to the topic heading. One way to find out would be to write a decoy post. Maybe I'd do that in six months, but for now I'll keep to the topic, I think.
I know one person responds to her discussion comments by restating, or even stating the exact same thing the person before said. I know on most other sites that isn't recommended. For mylot, I don't know just yet. I may ask @goaskalice about it one of these days. To me, that's not adding to the discussion at all, nor is it providing fodder for more discussions.

@arthurchappell I don't think she was copying and pasting, but restating almost the exact thing but in her own words. I've seen her comment on other people's posts more than once and she doesn't do it there. Maybe she didn't know what to say at the time.

It gets so we clear through our notifications right before they fill up again - it never ends

In many cases the responses are actually several sentences long and carry a lot of thoughtful detail which is wonderful.

@wiLLmaH yes, some threads of discussion carry on nicely for days and weeks after the original posts went live which is great

My first obligation is to respond to people who comment on my posts and to read one or two of theirs-- really doesn't leave me a lot of time for 'others' so I have set a schedule for myself--I could post 3-4 discussions a day but I have decided to post one discussion 3 days a week and then I can concentrate on dealing with those that involve themselves with me! :O)
Does that make sense? Well it does to me!!

I run a jillion windows at once, closing each when done, but not all have the PC or the net speed (or two monitors) for that

Oh Mr. Chappell, dnt you worry !! Haven't u heard of that old saying, "Slow and steady wins the race" ?? :) So dnt you worry at all. Also, keep up the good work. It has been seen that your speed of increases with your expertise, so as you keep doing more of what you are doing, you will do it much faster.
