It finally really feels like Autumn here in Northern California

Last night was one of those nights when I could feel the chilly air on my body as I slept. I think I dreamed of being cold, woke up, and pulled my comforter up to my neck before falling back asleep. We're expecting a high in the 80s here in the East Bay (away from the ocean), but I could tell it was in the 50s last night. I just checked, and the low was 53. By Winter, we'll have some lows in the 20s here, not cold by Midwestern standards, but colder than we're experiencing now. Is the season changing where you live?

I enjoy it. It feels refreshing. It's still really pleasant outside, even just after 2 PM. No oppressive heat.

@TheHorse Austria is pretty cols, similar to Switzerland. Vienna is one of the coldest city I have ever visited, just like New York, no matter where you are heading a chilly wind blows on your face.

40 F is pretty cool! I would love to visit Europe again. I was in Austria a couple of years ago (in January) visiting a friend. The weather reminded me of the Midwest, here in the US.

It's definitely fall here, but we have been above average for most of it. It's supposed to be near 70 today, but it's going to cool down after today.

I'll have to check and see where you live. It only says United States next to your name. But if 70 seems warm, I'm guessing the Midwest or back East. I saw on TV (as I watched the Mets blow out my Cubbies) that it was really cool in NY last week.

@TheHorse I live in ND so near 70 in October is pretty warm. It only actually got to the mid 60's, but not having to wear a coat in October is great.

@fawkes62 Where in ND? We used to drive through ND to get to Montana from Chicago when I was a kid.

First time this season for a little ice film on the windshield this morning. We turned the heat on, too.

@sallypup It's still kind of mild this evening. I just got two progress notes done. I may hit the balcony for some loudspeaker sanding action.

We've been having lower temps this last week or so. Had to turn the heat on earlier this year than I usually do but my aching cold bones were causing me to have arthritis pain. I don't really care for that happening so I turned the heat on and covered me up with a blanket instead of my sheet. The Almanac says we are in for a cold one this year. Sorry to say.

I don't mind cold so long as we get some rain here in CA. I hope you keep your aching bones nice and toasty, though!

It gets MUCH colder in the Midwest and East than here in California. I am still OK with real cold. But I like being able to hike and such through the Winter here in CA. I do miss the Seasons on the Midwest. We have them here, but they're more subtle.

Yes, it is finally changing, it is late for the colors this year.

I think our limited colors showed up a bit early, due to the drought. No carpets of leaves yet, though.
