Ephemera

As my paper boat swims downstream,
A windmill shades my small home,
Fields aglow with hiding fireflies,
Night sky with memories to hide,
Blowing its hard to miss whistle ,
Runs a train across my countryside,
I sit silently on my verandah steps,
And pen down a poem whenever,
The anonymous face and smile,
Eyes that are outlined like clouds,
Question where do i hide them,
And this heart betrays the secret,
Radio surprisingly airs an old song,
As a boy asked a girl to a dance,
She smiled like keeping a secret,
And as every christmas recalls.
An angel in a pretty yellow dress,
Held my hand and showed me,
A sight of heaven and true love,
And i sing out loud the old song,
Asking my friend to carry my voice,
Like a shed leaf takes flight,
To a window where the moonlight,
Streams in over her sleeping face,
Suddenly she smiles as if dreaming,
I'm singing the song for her somewhere,
But i wake up as the song fades,
With nothing but stars to look at,
As i pen down another memory,
Of her flitting smile before my eyes.
