How I use Twitter to promote my articles

Twitter and I became friends back in 2009. The relationship was rocky at first. It took me a few months to get used to being on Twitter. Now, I really like it and use it often to promote my articles. Its like anything else. The more you use it, the more you get noticed. The more you get noticed, the more people want to follow you. That encourages you to use Twitter more. It's a cycle. I originally signed up for Twitter because of a big road trip. People wanted to know where we were going to be on the trip. Texting everyone was impractical and my groups would only hold a few people. Signing up seemed the best way that people could follow our journey. That was 5,500 followers ago. My Twitter account and blogs are now linked. A simple click of the button means that the article is posted and the link sent to my followers a few seconds later. I get an automatic notification when someone sends my article out to their followers. This way, I can respond either publicly or privately to say thank you. I also try to share the love by retweeting the work of my friends. We don't exist in a vacuum. Twitter is the same as any other social media relationship. You get out of it what you put into it.

Well Gayle, when did you show up here? I don't think you're allowed to put that last sentence FYI.

I've been here since 2009, but haven't used it much lately. Thanks for the heads up about the last sentence. I didn't know that and removed it.

According to what people say the rules are different now. Better safe than sorry.

It sounds like a good idea and I need to get on that learning curve. I believe you may be able to put your other things on your profile--blogs, twitter account, etc, but I am not sure. I do know that people who want to know can send you a private message and ask. On the old myLot spamming links was a real problem.

I hope that you are able to harness the Twitter energy sometime. It looks like the spam link issue is greatly reduced now, and that's really nice.
