India, Pakistan, Arnab Goswami, and patriotism

Yesterday there was a heated debate which Goswami's debates always are. It was like telling Pakistan you went all the way to the US but the US did not support you on Kashmir issue. Me being me wanna ask, was it necessary to do that? And should the journalist use words like "snub"? Does that not mean he has expressed his view on the subject rather than let the viewer decide. I was disappointed. You can't have Indians and Pakistanis slugging it out. How did you know what went on? If you got the information from the horse' mouth, get the horse on the show. Anyway, why should India and Pakistan be running to the US as if it is two small children running to a teacher complaining against each other? Allies, handshakes, and all that is fine but just like you wouldn't let business partners know your problems with your neighbors I thought friendships stand the same way. I do not like our media highlighting US support as if it was a big thing. Others hesitate to tell you somethings on face. In fact, I find it demeaning when they do that. As if we accept we are not up to mark and others support of action or inaction is huge. Don't we know? Does American ask for our approval? Get your act together India and Pakistan. Its time more was spent on caring for populations rather than on military expenses.

Now that Pakistan is in turmoil of its own, let us ask Kashmiris if that is the way they want. Those who don't want to be there, can return to India, and those who want to stay there, let them go the syria, iraq, and lebanon way. Time we stopped.

@singh25 ..influenced or not, the decision is theirs. Elections can be held under supervision of the UN, and so also election propaganda.

@vandana7 Kashmiris really want to stay in India because In India they are getting everything even Reservations in jobs...But the thing is that they are strongly influenced or pressurized by terrorist or other group to stand against India.

I told many - Forget the past but then, they neither want to forget it nor do they want to get over it and move ahead. Some years back one of these leaders did say that the Indian Media is always a Purchased Media. As far as India and Pak running to US is concerned, as we do not have the guts to resolve the matters on our own and even the lack of interest in resolving anything, we do need a Third Party - who realized that Pak houses Terror quite late.

If third party's intervention is needed, I think UN and UN alone should be brought in. I think Nehru did the country wrong by refusing plebiscite.

@vandana7 And that UN thing from Nehru started it all. If I remember my history classes - there would have been no POK if Nehru had not been the crying baby who took refuge with the UN.

@thesids ..actually Pak asked for plebiscite and Nehru refused. God alone knows why. It should have been done. Let us be honest about it. Had it been done, we would have been at peace and spent more money to educate our backward folks and provided more for health care and family planning than what we are doing now. We spent all that on war and espionage and arms and kickbacks.

I didn't know India runs to US or ANY other country for Kashmir resolution. Doubt if it wants even UN to interfere. And of course, I am not talking about media who has already lost its honor. Arnab's shows are about his own views. Others are mere character artists. So, your experience is on expected lines. Interesting to know that Nehru went to UN... I would have supported plebiscite at that time, not now when a lot of them are refugees outside and rest are bloating. Loved that part...till recent floods.

I believe that countries should solve their problems without asking outside for help. Those who help do not do this for free, remember. Freedom is more important.

Exactly. UN is there for some help. In any event why should another person use its armed forces, artillery and everything that is which costs it and its tax payers ...it is a rather naive way of thinking.
