If you were in my situation, would you save a cockroach? I saw a cockroach on the hallway. Some irresponsible tenants here don't know how to clean their room and when there's an insect like this inside their room, they get rid of them by sweeping them away outside of their room. They don't care if their waste is on the hallway. Sometimes I see strands of hair, accumulated dirt, papers etc. Don't know why they think the hallway is a trash bin. The care taker will clean the hallway but it's done every morning only and lately, the care taker fails in cleaning the hallway everyday.
So there's this cockroach that lays on its back and so many ants are trying to carry it. I ignored it. I love all animals and insects but I can't love a cockroach so I'll not save it.

I salute you, @boiboing! I also rescued so many worms when I was younger. I pity them especially if there are so many ants that are trying to carry them. Seeing so many bites really make me cry. I always think if I were that worm, how would I endure the pain?

@Bluedoll, your response made me do some research. I found out that cockroach does not carry any diseases. No scientific proof to this. Also it's true that they are useful in a garbage heap. They say nitrogen which is needed by plants is trapped by garbage especially the decaying ones. Cockroach eats this garbage and in return, nitrogen is released thru their poops. Wow! What a discovery! Also cockroach are important to those animals like birds and other insects because cockroach is one of their food. Oh no! I wonder what their taste is.

@wittynet I didn't know about the nitrogen thing but it makes sense. I guess to birds, reptiles and insects their taste buds are different. Now if people keep the garbage away from the homes then everyone has a happy home. Nice research and written information by the way.

Nope, I'd just leave it there for the ants to eat. But those tenants should be told to throw their trash in a trash bin. Perhaps the caretaker should put a trash can outside the rooms or something.

I will kill a cockroach a million times if I can!.
Oh about unclean hallway? I was able to go with my best friend to her apartment and alas! I found outside her room some garbage! I think the caretaker should check the hallway three to five times a day and reprimand the tenants that could not maintain cleanliness.

That's correct, @Fleura! What I really admire with them is they share food with others. They help one another to look for food and once they find it, they patiently carry it to their home. When I was a child, I wanted to check on their house. I wanted to see how it looks like and how they preserve food.

I also pity them, @Tita417. Of course, they never wanted to be the dirtiest but they're what they are. Maybe if they can talk, they will tell us that they don't also like to be a cockroach but they have no choice. Poor insects. No one loves them.
