We gave up caffeine some years ago, and tend to take sachets of caffeine free drinks when visiting people. Although we're happy to drink water, hosts seem to feel they have somehow failed if we only drink water. A friend dropped in unexpectedly today, and asked if he could have a coffee as he was feeling tired. Hmmm. We only had caffeine free in the cupboard. J. drank his mug of coffee, and soon after said he felt much perkier. I didn't have the heart to tell him no caffeine was involved. Maybe he just needed a spoonful of sugar.

It's interesting how a placebo can work in some instances.

I like coffee but if I'm tired it doesn't perk me up.

I've never gotten a physical reaction from not having my coffee @kizzyB but I do like the stuff.

I have the occasional "normal" coffee and can really feel the difference these days. Previously, it was more like I had to have coffee or I'd get a headache.

He never even noticed the differences. I quit drinking caffeine two months ago.

Hope you feel better for it. Giving up wasn't nearly as hard as I expected.
