Tonight, my husband and I are going to the theater in our community to watch a tribute band play music from "The Eagles." We have front row seats. About 35 years ago, we went to see the real Eagles and had front row seats for their "Hotel California" tour. We loved the performance of the real band, of course. Since we have lived here, we have also attended a Beatles tribute band which was a lot of fun. The only thing that was missing was the sound of screaming teenagers! I hope we enjoy tonight's performance as much. I think it will be a lot of fun. I'll let everyone know in the morning what we thought of it.

We had a great time at the concert. I'll write about it tomorrow. I remember seeing the Dixie Chicks when they played in a small bar for a women's group I belonged to. The next year they were famous. I really enjoyed hearing them before they were famous. I'm sure it was the same for you with Alabama.

@crazyhorseladycx - You would have loved the tribute band last night. I was surprised that I knew the words to every song they sang!

Yes, I used to go see them when in Las Vegas, but I haven't in years.

These guys mentioned that they play a lot of casinos, so I guess that means the Indian casinos and Las Vegas. They were good!

Oh, yes! I prefer the original artists, too. However, when they aren't available, these guys were better than a CD.

Dang, I thought I already responded to this one! Maybe that was when my computer froze up. Anyway, I hope they do Seven Bridges Road. That's one of my favorite Eagles songs.

Yup ... they did Seven Bridges Road, Tequilla Sunrise, Hotel California, Lying Eyes and a bunch more. They played for 1 1/2 hours straight. We loved it! I'll write more about it tomorrow.

@DeborahDiane Cool! I'm not going wonky. You had mention this concert in a comment on one of my posts. I liked the earliest stuff best--Peaceful Easy Feeling, Tequila Sunrise, etc. I'm a sucker for acoustic guitars and good harmonies. I'm glad they were good!

@TheHorse - I love their early stuff like Peaceful Easy Feeling and Tequila Sunrise, too! Two of the guys were fabulous guitar players ... the other two were so-so. But, the so-so guitar players had the best voices. I guess it was a trade-off.

I do enjoy tribute bands when I like the original artist and the tribute band stays true to the real thing. My hubby became friends with a man who was SPOT on, I mean could literally be mistaken for Johnny Cash! AMAZING!

Tribute bands are a lot of fun and they are so much more affordable than the real thing!

some tributes are fun but there are to many of them and it means fewer bands try creating their own new material

My husband and I were just talking about how many musicians do not create their own music any more. That is such a shame!

I am pretty sure that you did not miss the sound of screaming teenagers. I can still remember the year 1965 when the Beatles came to Milan. I had to cheat to go see them, my father was against.

I bet you had a great time. Our local town has a music festival. Every year and several look alike singers and tribute bands perform and most are jolly good.

It's been a long time since I have seen one but I do enjoy the ones I Have seen in the past. It is a good option to the real thing

I agree! We cannot see the old bands anymore ... either they are gone or they are rarely in town. However, it is fun to see the tribute bands!
