Do you get shocked by what you see on TV?

I do many times.
I am watching CSIs reruns. The amount of liquor that the beautiful people drink in Miami or Las Vegas is more than what I have had in my whole life. Money runs like booze too and beautiful women get stoned by several sorts of drugs. From there to death there´s only one step.
Gone are the days of the family type of show. I have cable TV and the only serials I follow that have some resemblance with what I´d call a normal life are some Emglish serials such as Downton Abbey or Last Tango in Halifax.
Where are the Betty Whites of today? Anyone still remembers The Golden Girls. They are surely missed.

I did watch 7th Heaven before though.. that was really nice.. watching the kids grow up and all

CSI shows are full of violence. And so is Criminal Minds and the like. The "good people" are also trigger happy.

@marguicha I like CSI more..although at least in Criminal Minds they can still prevent the killings.. but they handle more brutal criminals

I get even more shocked by kid shows today. I set up a disney channel show for someone close to me and the show was called "Jessie." In the show, the main character,Jessie, babysits kids but the kids treat her rudely, calling her "gross, stupid, old ding bat, freak." The poor main character has no one to comfort her yet somehow she is displayed as a happy character.
I don't know if the message of the show is to not treat your enemies bad and you'll obtain victory or to be overly submissive that you forget your inner voice.
In one episode, one kid takes advantage of Jessie's dream to get what they want, a box of toys. The kid participates in a competition, sabotaging all of Jessie's attempts behind the scenes and wins and Jessie's dream of becoming a singer is shattered.
No one cares and she cries out alone. I hate some kid shows today. This is just one example but there are other shows that don't teach kids good morals. The only good kid show I found today is Steven Universe. You guys can look that up if you want. So sorry for the long post but I had to talk about it. I'm happy you opened up this discussion.

I remember babysitting one of my grandsons several years ago and later talked with my daughter about the horrid cartoons he watched. With working mothers, chidren see a lot of things they should not.
