Earning money Vs Earning Respect...!!!!

What's more important in life? Earning money or Earning Respect..?? Are we getting so busy in our materialistic life & selfish approach that we are forgetting our basic ethics? Well, in my opinion, anybody can earn money but not every kind of money can earn you respect. "R E S P E C T”, a mere seven - lettered word but of immense importance. Its meaning goes far beyond its size. No wealth can buy & No power can forcefully acquire these seven – letters. These seven letters can only be earned through good deeds, hard work and selflessness. It takes a life to earn it and a moment to lose. In today’s world, people are so busy collecting wealth & luxuries that they have forgot their basic ethics. They have forgot the basic difference between right & wrong, moral & immoral, ethical & unethical. But, in our subconscious mind we are always aware of our deeds. Our soul follows righteousness. We should always make sure that the monetary assets that we have earned is not at the cost of someone’s tears because such wealth may give us all the luxuries of the world but will definitely fail to give solemn to our soul. So, the path chosen for earning your livelihood matters & should always be ethical.. which can give you the right to live with respect….!!!!

Unfortunately this is exactly what happens every day in the world. People do anything to earn more and they do not care at all if this costs someone else tears.

Yes, you are very right that now a days people wants to earn more and more money, irrespective of the fact how they are going to earn it. It is irony that those who have money and wealth, people run after them and follow them. For many acquiring materialistic things is most important than maintaining contact with friends/relatives or remaining in touch with them. These kinds of people just go on acquiring wealth and materialist things. Earning respect of others is more difficult than earning money. For getting someone's respect you have to be humble, honest and submissive and you need to have lots of patience. Now a days people are losing their humble attitude and have no patience for anything.

@Ishani08 Those who live such a life can tell better about it. For them accumulating wealth by unfair means is fine because they may say many people earn through unfair means so what is wrong if they are also following them.

Totally agree with you Deepak.. But today people fail to understand the importance of relationships and esteem... And humble attitude is hard to be seen nowadays...!!!! Also, the means acquired for earning money are so false and inhuman that sometimes ,even cost people their lives.. What is the use and motive of such earned money? And what is the purpose of living such a life.??

I notice in the commercial world people with money get the most attention and service but if they do not show wealth can be disrespected. It is the way of the world but what you described is much better.

@Ishani08 So very true. I think I would rather have respect than just power but both would be nice.

@Bluedoll Haha.. You can get both... Take any great personality for instance and you will notice he/she had both.. You need fewer qualities to earn wealth but the list of eligibility criteria is quite long for respect...!!!!!

I agree. Respect is hard to earn and should be valued. If someone is earning money by causing others harm, they cannot expect respect, they might have those who fear them, but they will never know true respect. It is sad that money comes first in life these days.

@bluesa You are right. Money do comes first nowadays but people who earn money by false means would certainly have to pay back a thousand fold. Such money will never give solemn to thier soul which no luxury can earn.

You don't have to sacrifice earning a decent living in order to be respected. It all depends on what your goals, attitudes, ethics, and life style represents. I don't like greedy people. I don't like people who value the dollar over the needs of others.

Exactly, money earned without compromising the ethics is no harm.. But wealth accumulated on the grounds of lies, scams, costing someone tears are definitely very unworthy and bad.. a human being should not behave inhuman..

I think as we get older perhaps we get more concerned about how we appear to people rather than how much we are earning.

Yes, but its about values..!!!! When Greed shadows one's soul...one can hardly see the difference between right and wrong.. All that matter to him/her at that point is money.. But, I also agree to you that with age, as a person gains maturity, he/she starts realizing the worth of image and values..

Both are important.. but the balancing act is required.. A person cannot only survive on respect.. Money is also important for survival dear..

I agree that the survival is impossible without money. What I meant was a balance should be maintained. After all, one should not compromise one's ethics for earning money!
