Dilemma in the workplace

I think all of us have some ways to get our jobs done quicker, but we are all reluctant to make suggestions. At every meeting, the manager will talk about process improvement or whatever improvement, and calls for suggestions. Many newbies are so eager to please the bosses that they start to suggest this and that, and all these suggestions, if put into practice, are either going to create chaos in the future or cutting down the number of workers. That is why many senior workers shoot down the suggestions. The seniors know jobs well, and know how to shoot down the suggestions without showing that they fear losing their jobs.

New workers bring change to the job, change that the older workers may not want to embrace. If you never try new things you remain stagnant. The senior workers do not always know what's best, and the new ones show be respected, listened to and given a chance

The senior workers fear losing their jobs. When a suggestion by new worker means that a few jobs will be eliminated, the senior workers will oppose it violently.

Sorry but sometimes its the new and fresh employees that can bring the best ideas to the table, so to speak. A lot of "old timers" tend to feel threatened by newbies and are kind of stuck in their old way of doing things. I've seen it over and over again.

Actually the older workers know how to improve on the work processes and systems, but they will not say anything. If a good suggestion means a reduction of headcount, they fear that their jobs are at risk. The new workers have not learnt to fear losing their jobs yet, that is why they dare to suggest openly.

It really depends on the situation. It's hard to tell whether or not the suggestions were good or not without being there and without knowing the company from the inside out.

The management thinks differently. If you can make a suggestion that will result in half the workforce losing the job, and yet the profit margin is the same, that is a good suggestion. Anything else is neutral to the company.

If suggestions are given by many , then it should be deliberated as to what is the best to follow .

I think your work situation is not good for you to obtain a fair award, especially if you are a new employees. This situation will only make you despair and loss of morale. A good work situations will allow a new employees to come forward and get award fairly without making your senior feel jealous. Try to looking for another job...if you want to come forward...Be confident, you will get the best job if you believe with your dream...Good luck!

It is impossible for a person to go against the rest. If you have noticed in the supermarket, some cashiers are fast, and some are lazy, and take their time. If everyone is slow, and you are fast, you still have to do a bit slower, else you will get everyone against you.

"All suggestions are equal, but some suggestions are more equal than others". That's how the story goes. Suggestions, unfortunately, go by rank. The more senior you are, the more your suggestion holds weight. Doesn't matter if you're a dumb piece of tish. Doesn't matter if you'd just came in to the organization, parachuted from such faraway tish hole. Don't matter. As long as you have rank, you can make suggestions, and the rest of us minions MUST listen.
