Guess what I made today?

Those who have known me over the year probably knows what yummys I made today by looking at this picture. This is what I start with to make what I call "My Favorite Pumpkin Pie" When I was finally done I had two containers of apples, enough for one pie or two apples and dumplings; 7 bags of puree pumpkin, enough for pies, muffins, smoothies, etc. plus one tablespoon, enough for a pumpkin latte, and 1 3/4 cup of pumpkin seeds.
I got the original recipe from a Girl Scout outing I took with my daughter many years ago and ever since I have never bought canned pumpkin. With the lack of time I have, my first treat (not counting the seeds since they are already roasted and ready to eat) will probably be apples and dumplings followed by the delicious pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.

you are ahead on making your thanksgiving dinner by the sounds of, and it will be a very delicious meal. I have not began to thinking about Thanksgiving dinner, I have been preoccupied with buying a Christmas Tree. However, It's time for me to make my thanksgiving menu so I know what items I need to buy.

Oh no, though I do use some of the pumpkin for pies, this is how I bake and freeze pumpkin for a variety of dishes, including muffins and smoothies. I do this now, because it is the best time of year to buy pumpkins and apples at the local farm.

@changjiangzhibin89 You fry them? Our pies are from pumpkin (along with egg, milk, spices, and the crust is made from flour and shortening, but we don't fry them, we bake them and some, like myself, add whipped cream on top..Yum!
So since yours are fried, I take it the pumpkin filling is stuffed into the crust? Like this picture of an apple turnover, where they fill the crust with apple pie filling.

Well a bigger pumpkin wouldn't fit in my oven and I heard the smaller they are, the sweeter they are. So what do you mean by yours is made from pumpkin and flour? Your pies are? That is how I make my pie, but I first cook it this way, which is different from how most people make it.

Actually, I didn't grow these, though I would love to in the future. No, I bought these at a small local farm.

Not even pumpkin muffins or bread? Another favorite recipe is pumpkin roll, but that is a tedious job to make.

Yes, I admit, besides the colors, some of the food is great in the fall, but I still prefer summer. So, you use apples to bake your pumpkin too? Or do you bake your pumpkin differently?

@crazyhorseladycx If you are using a pumpkin pie pumpkin, or just a small one like what I have, it only takes maybe 4-6 apples, depending on the size of the apples.

I love the photo and this time of year. We went to an orchard to get apples. I need to get going on making some sauce. We're busy eating some too tasty grapes that I bummed off a buddy. (Too bad chips don't cause grief to the system like too much good fruit does.)

Oh, I love grapes, and I hear you, too bad chips are so bad for us, even the baked ones are not really good, just better than fried. I have been wanting to go apple picking at an orchard for years, but my husband doesn't like it I guess, he will only go strawberry picking in the spring.
