In my country, poverty is still a problem to be solved. Approximately 10% of the population in my country still live in poverty. They do not have food, clothing and house that adequate for living .
The Government has organized several programs to eradicate poverty, but not enough to finish it because so much the number of poor people here.
What do you think about poverty? Is the poverty is always associated with laziness?

Not necessarily. Inadequate wages and failed policies can be among the factors as well.

I agree with you, there are some problems and factors that be cause of poverty. The weakness of government to push adequate wages, policies were not support to reduce poverty and there are no partiality to the poor is also a cause of poverty.

Of course it is not. The deck is stacked against people who start off poor. It is much easier to be rich if your parents were rich, and middle class if your parents were middle class. It is much harder to rise up from poverty.

Yes, I think so, it is so hard to come out from poverty. It needs some support from many parties, family, environment, culture and government. Thank you for your respond.

Not always, no. There are other factors involved...sometimes even larger the the people immediately involved. I used to work in homeless shelters, and in many cases there was illness involved, and in some cases people even had jobs. It's a very large topic:(

I have no doubt that there are a lot of people who are lazy and would rather sit on their butts and let someone else earn their money. In the U.S. it's estimated that the benefits of Welfare, between food, health insurance, housing subsidies, and money, would require a job making approximately $27,000 a year to equate the Welfare (not to mention the welfare is tax-free). I've worked with people whose first words on their first day on the job are, "how long are our breaks and when do we eat?"
Another issue isn't "laziness," it's dishonesty. There are people who could make $50,000 a year with the effort they put into ripping off the system for $5,000.
Another thing that causes problems, in our country anyway, is the ease with which someone can get deeply in debt. Credit cards are handed out like candy at Halloween in this country, and in many cases to people who are high credit risks.
Having said all of that, there are plenty of issues that keep the cycle of poverty going. There are things that people must have, at least in our country, including transportation, food, clothing, and housing. The price of all these things keep going up much faster than the wages do.
