Asthma, strong perfume and my daughter

Monday is never my favorite day of the week. However, yesterday was terrible. My adult daughter had an asthma attack around 10:00 pm Sunday night. Her inhaler didn't help much so a friend took her to the ER. I am told that triage took one look at her and immediately started working on her.
My husband and I were about two hours from the hospital when we got the call. My husband nearly got us there before we left. Thank goodness the state troopers weren't out! The last thing we need is an expensive speeding ticket. She was very happy to see us when we got there.
She was there about eight hours before getting her well enough to leave. The doctor almost kept her overnight at one point! It was a rough night, but she turned the corner and is very tired but doing well.
The asthma attack was triggered by someone who had overdone a strong perfume or cologne. It was 100% avoidable. All the person had to do was wear a reasonable amount and this never would have happened. Please, if you're going to wear perfume don't bathe in it!

It always bothers me when people walk around like they soaked themselves in perfume, and I don't even have asthma. I don't know why they need to put that much perfume on.

@enlightenedpsych2 Or they've never heard of antiperspirant and deodorant.

@enlightenedpsych2 Yes of course, there are natural and organic alternatives for those who don't want the commercially prepared ones.

I had that happen with the smell of cleaners that restaurants use. The food absorbs the odor. Not cool.

I've had the same problem with some people and their strong perfume. Fortunately, I've never ended up in the ER from it.

I feel for you and your daughter. I am have asthma myself and it is not really nice to inhale too much perfume. But unfortunately other people are insensitive to know that perfume is supposed to be used adequately but they choose to make it their liquid bath soap. Happy to know your daughter is doing well. It is really hard.

Good for you for not using it like that. It cost her a day of work she will have bills to pay because of it, but she is okay and that's what matters most. I'm grateful for that.
