I am happy to report, I have marked a few presents off the list for Christmas. Usually we do not start until the week before Thanksgiving, but this year, I am jumping on it! I put a mountain bike on lay away for my daughter. I made a large order online and paid for it with a Swag coupon, thank you Swag! Plus I found a couple things yesterday. Hubby was the easiest, we heat with wood and he requested his present early, a chain saw. Since I like to be warm, I happily ran to the store and got it. He has already chopped some wood, and just in time, it is cooling off fast. Now, a few off the list and, let's see, tons more to go. We will still be shopping right up until the week of Christmas I am sure, but it feels good to get it started. Have you started yet?

A chain saw ! What a wonderful gift, I know that Katerina @thea09 knows what I mean. I am asking for a chain saw from years, but I will never get it, too dangerous according to my husband.

Your husband is a wise man. I cannot think of anything more scary than having a wife with a chainsaw.

Haven't you managed to persuade him yet Anna? Tell him you may need one for self defence.

I did my 2015 Christmas shopping the day after Christmas 2014. Did all the year's birthday present shopping then too.

@ChesneyM If you pick a day right after the holiday, when there are great sales, you do not need to be organized. You will be finished. Put them in an easy to find place and put reminders on your calendar or set an alert on your phone or computer.

I am done buying all those gifts. I bought it after Cotton On and Uniqlo announced their "On Sale" last September.

Wow! This Christmas is going to cost you a bundle all right. It's a good thing that you have started already, you seem to have a long list. This week I will take care of some "little gifts".

@mom210 It probably will. When my kids were young, I always had my shopping done by Thanksgiving. Then I would enjoy Christmas more.

I am trying to make the season a little more enjoyable, sometimes it gets a little to crazy trying to cram in into just a couple weeks. I hope this helps.

No I haven't started yet but I will have to be earlier this year. One of my daughters is studying in Scotland for her Master's and, since she is so far away, I will have to ship her Christmas gifts to her. She won't be able to come home for the holidays. So, having to do so will force me to start shopping earlier. I dread it but, on the other hand, it would be nice to finish earlier too LOL

@mom210 Yes! It's the first time we won't spend Christmas together :( I thought she was going to be able to make a little Christmas over there with her flatmates and others from her program but turns out most of them are flying home to their families for the holidays and my daughter is staying in Scotland. I think a lot of those families are much better off financially than we are because the cost of all that flying is just really difficult. I'll do what I can to set her up with a nice Christmas, though, and I guess we'll be skyping a lot that day!

I shop online throughout the year. If I see something that's a good deal, I buy it and stash it. I dislike the crowds at the stores.

I've only bought a couple, but I've cut my gift list down to three gifts for each person. If three was enough for baby Jesus, it's enough for us. Our kids and grandkids (all but three) are grown so they like gift cards and cash. I try to find something personal for the third gift.

I haven't even started to make a list of what we will be getting this year. I might have to make this year smaller than last year due to starting payments for orthodontic care. Once I've figured out how much we can afford I can start thinking about what to get the kids.

Seems like it is always tough to figure out that part. I have them make lists of what they want and decide from that. Some of it I just decide they need though

@mom210 I have my kids make lists too, but they sometimes struggle, especially if it's going to be a small Christmas that year. They definitely can come up with more ideas if we don't have to keep to a tight budget.

I'll be buying a few this weekend, if I have the time. This is an extra pay week so I'll use most of my paycheck and a small bit of hubby's towards Christmas shopping. I don't plan to use it all this week, but I saw a few things the other day that I'd like to buy so I will get them this weekend and then save the rest of the money for when I'm out and see some other stuff.
