Baked Apples

United States

I haven't baked an apple in ages. I usually try to buy a bag of apples each week when I shop so that I can have an apple a day (to keep the doctor away). This morning I decided to bake my apple (don't know why I don't do this more often). I let it cool a little and then put a nice scoop of ricotta cheese on top with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Oh sooo yummy! Do you like baked apples?

To be honest, I have never baked an apple in my life. I do make apple sauce and apple crisps.

My husband often makes them but he never quite gets them right. He should probably stick to potatoes.

@marlina get the premade kind if you aren't great at crusts..they do come in handy when you are in a rush and need a dessert

The only few times I made apple pies with a crust were a disaster.

I make apple pies, apple crumbles, or apple strudels - I'm not sure what exactly is baked apple or how to make them...

@Marilynda1225 They just don't look good enough to spend money on. Produce/fruits at Inegles are awful most of the time.

Apples have been horrible so far this season but baking them is a great way to use up those apples.

I like baking, but I haven't tried to bake apples yet. It seems to be weird for me. Here we just use apples to make the soup. And this may be the way we will cook apples. Otherwise we will just eat apples directly. I am curious what the baking apples look like. Is it delicious? Is it a kind of dessert? Why not just make the apple pie? Do you slice the apples and then bake them?

I prefer to eat apple just like that. I like the crunchy sound when I bite into the apple. I tend to have different fruits in a single day, so I do not eat a lot of the same kind of fruit. It can be a few grapes with a few strawberries, and a little cherry apple.

I bake apple pie every year from the apples from my friends apple tree. If there is lots of apples we make apple butter and applesauce.
