When I Grow Up I Wanna Be...

"When you grow up what do you want to be?" That is the prominent question to us when we are young right? Why not let discuss in here who achieved their dreams? I will start. I want to be a doctor or a teacher. Well, I do not got that! Haha! Why? I found out that being a doctor will takes a lot of time which I am not willing to spend to. Teacher? Well I am not patient and good in dealing with different kinds of people specially teenagers. Haha! I found out that I love law and the art of importing and exporting. I am a Licensed Customs Broker in the Philippines and I am still working at Import Department here in Singapore. And I am loving every container I am seeing at the port. How about you? Do you achieved it or fell in love to another profession as you grow?

I wanted to become a ballerina when I was a kid, of course this was a ridiculous idea. Growing up my dream was to become an architect, things did not go as I would have liked, but this is still what I love.

I never thought about what I wanted to be when I was young. Well, I did want to be a superhero like Green Lantern or Superman but that didn't work out. I did have a ring but couldn't get it to do anything. I just took whatever job I could find and that made enough money to support my family. So for about 40 years I worked as a salesman in the fashion industry, selling accessories. and tried many other things along the way. Life goes on!

The course i graduated in is BSBA major in accounting , because it's what my father wanted . Though now , i don't regret it . When i was a child i dreamt of being a flight stewardess . But because i had a partial denture since after high school , it disqualified me .

I do not want to be inclined in customs too. While walking, I saw one of our neighbor is pretty rich then I asked my brother what the owner of the house does. Then he told me that they are working at Customs. From there. I know what I want. hahaha!

I did achieve a great profession in my life. I loved the art of the hairdressing and all to do with the beauty and fashion work! It was never a dull moment for me. I was very fortunate in being satisfied and felt I was always happy going to work.

I did a few things before I found something that I really enjoy doing. I wanted to be so many things when I was a kid. My background is in IT but sometimes I think it would be interesting if I had studied psychology.

The 1950s and 60s were so different, it was assumed that girls would marry and have families so we weren't asked, at least I know I wasn't. Imagine my parents shock when I decided to work instead of finding a husband when I was old enough.

@wiLLmaH I guess you are right but the trick to being successful with art is coming up with something people can't live without. I don't just paint pretty pictures and hope someone will buy them. I started painting funny signs that made people laugh and I could sell them for under $20. I have lots of stores who love them because they fly off the display. People laugh and then buy.

When i was a child, i loved to become a docter. But soon realized that is not worth to me as it is not affordable for my family. It is really costly to seek education for MBBS. So being frank to you my friend @wiLLmaH, i am taking accounting as my profession only because of my financial condition. but yes i know when a rich makes more, it dont matter as much as when a poor makes money. Its my future and i know how to change it.

I graduated BS Customs Administration @rahulvsmokiee! My mom and dad use to buy insurance that comes with stocks. Then I buy those too for myself. When I got married, husband and I decided to invest on directly to Philippine Stock Market. I think you need to read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.
