Loud people

We were at my mom in laws this Sunday and my husband's cousin came visiting. He has a one year old son and the man was speaking so loudly to his baby. I asked my husband if his cousin was deaf because the little boy could hear my normal speech and respond to it normally. I was told he wasn't
The man was speaking to me as if I was sitting a mile away from him and it was grating on my ears.
I wondered if his father was deaf and was told he wasn't deaf either.. They were just a family of loud people. I mean he was reeeally loouudd.
I didn't realize that some people have a habit of speaking so loud.
I literally had to excuse myself and walk away from the room because I couldn't take it any more. I started to have a headache and my ears were ringing from it.
Can you stand loud people?

@else34 Maybe she just needs to become aware of the problem this behavior would cause in normal social interactions or at the work place.. if she has no underlying physical causes she can easily get over this habit.Maybe you could help her understand this and encourage her to change.

Same here, I can't stand loud people. Unfortunately, my new neighbor is so loud and each morning as I water my plants, all that I hear is her loud voice. My place was once peaceful, each morning all I could hear was the tweeting birds in my mango tree but now, that loud woman. I am trying hard to avoid hating her.

@salonga I am so sorry.. If you have to listen to that everyday its torture. We used to have someone like that when we lived in our apartment. That guy used to live half his life on the phone in the corridor next to my door.. Finally we had to ask him to leave.

lol I live in the US so I'm used to loud people.
Sometimes I wonder if we don't have some huge hearing loss pandemic over here. Not that everybody is like that, but there are still a lot of people who think they have to be heard over everything.

I prefer a softer tone of voice myself. It is disturbing to everyone when it is too loud.

@Juliaacv I was sure he wasn't seeking attention.. because there was no other audience other than us inn that small house.. He was talking to everyone in that same pitch.. I was seriously feeling sorry for him thinking he was deaf.. but my husband laughed and said he wasn't.

Sorry for that, sometimes loudness can turn out to be a headache for sure. I guess you should find a way to deal with the loudness incase there is another family gathering and they happen to be around.

@Missmwngi Its easier for me to avoid him now that I know his problem. I cannot put myself through another obe of those sessions.. I wonder if no one close to him tells him about this.

Sure, there are too many peoples suffer from this bad habit, i think that is grow with the person from childhood, so this period is very suitable time to get rid of this bad habit.

@idrissi1977 It is surely a habit and as in all habits people can gain a certain amount of control if they put their minds to it.

I prefer people that speak loud enough that I can hear them without needing earmufffs.

Some people just have loud voices and probably don't even realize they are that loud. Unless of course someone would them something, along the lines, 'Can you take it down an octave or two'.
I'm not sure I could handle it, specially if there is a group of people. It would surely give me a headache.

They make me so uncomfortable. I know sometimes it's probably just their nature and they're not aware of it themselves but yeah it's a bit annoying.

@cahaya1983 Annoying? With this guy I was at the risk of going deaf.

A lot of people who are hard of hearing tend to talk too loud. It could be the man was a little bit deaf.

@DeborahDiane That is what I thought at first,..but I was told he wasn't. My mother in law laughed when I suggested that he needs his ears checked.. she told me he has been like that since he was a kid.

I lower my voice when speaking to loud people and they tend to follow suit if they are not ... deaf. Nope, I can't stand loud noise nowadays.
