Do you know how to use the chopsticks ?
I have to ask this because it’s as if I am already so old school that until now I still can’t use the chopsticks well.
We have eaten many times at a Japanese restaurants but I still prefer to ask for a spoon and a fork instead , and good thing they have them .
I have tried using chopsticks, but I can’t seem to use it well and makes me hungrier using them with difficulty .
I still prefer the spoon and fork .
I know , almost all of you knows how to use it . Am i right ?

You know I come from China. So it is quite common for us to use the chopsticks. We will use it mainly rather than fork and knife. There is a famous saying: Practice makes the perfect. If you often use chopsticks, you will master it soon. It is not as difficult as you think.

I don't see the point to chopsticks. They are very ineffective at anything other than making the meal last longer because you cannot get the food to your mouth in any substantial quantities. I wouldn't use a tree branch to shovel snow, so I see not reason to try to eat rice with a stick.

I don't know how to use chopsticks this is why my son always makes fun of me whenever we eat in Chinese or Japanese restaurant because I am the only one using spoon and fork. But I don't care, I am neither Chinese nor Japanese so who cares lol!

I had one imported from Mongolia - in fact one of my cousins got me one on request. I started watching some YouTube videos to learn how to use them. And I kept on messing things. After some 30 odd attempts, I realized that Noodles is more delicious only when it is served and consumed hot and it is a shame that as I experiment and learn, the noodles get cold...
End result: The chopsticks were packed back, and now they are an item of decor. We have put them on the refrigerator as a display of our antique collection

My siblings both know how to use them, but I am too clumsy and the food falls off when I try

Practice makes perfect. The reason why you can't use chopsticks well is that you barely use them .But then , it takes time .I have spent a lot of time teaching my granddaughter how to use the chopsticks ,but no matter how I showed her the ropes ,she still can't use them well now .

I never used those. Why would I use them when there are forks?

Nyahahahaha! You are not alone, friend! I have been learning to use those 2 long stick for a long time. . but to this date I still don't know how to use them. Every time we go to a Chinese restaurant, I put aside those sticks and ask for a knife and fork. One Chinese waitress gave me a "surprise" look one day; I told her I am Fil-Canadian and not a frequent visitor of Chinatown.

And why would they be surprised when we ask for spoon and fork when we don't look like Japanese or Chinese at all .
But oh , i look like a Japanese and Chinese , so i suppose they really will raise their brows when i go inside a restaurant like that , and ask for fork and knife .

I've never figured out how to use them. I noticed my children know how so I should ask them to teach me. I always bring them home from restaurants and give them to my kids.

I have never been fond of either Japanese or Chinese food, so I have never had a reason to try chopsticks. There is absolutely no doubt that I would be useless at it due to the lack of practice, which must be essential for chopsticks.

You are correct . Because we don't get to eat Japanese of Chinese food often , we are not obliged to really learn how to use the chopsticks .
Until now , i still haven't tried learning how to use it because i still prefer using the spoons and forks for eating conveniently .

Good that you learned it quickly . I guess when you have no alternative , you will be forced to use it by hook or by crook .
