I am sick of recalls but this one is especially bad. Sanofi Epinephrine Injectors are being recalled because there may not be enough medication in them to stop an allergic reaction. People who have anaphylaxic reactions rely on epinephrine injectors to reverse a reaction.
People who have food allergies or are allergic to bee stings have to carry them. This is not a product that you want to have fail when it's needed.
I fell victim of the 1998 recall on EpiPens. But, we didn't know about the recall until after I needed to use the pen. Hubby called for help when it didn't help like it normally did and EMS told us about the problem. Reversing the reaction landed me in the hospital. It was terrifying.
Check out the Sanofi website if you have one of their pens. Life is too precious to wait for a disaster.

Do you take the injections yourself? Isn't it potentially dangerous to do that?

It's not dangerous at all. The pen is designed for that.

A recent study of these pens found that in many cases they were ineffective as they wouldn't penetrate clothing or people were scared to jab hard enough or didn't really know how to use them properly or which parts of the body were best to apply them. Just carrying one is not enough, even if it does contain the right dose.

It's not the device's fault if the patient doesn't know how to use it. The pens are very easy to use, and we were given a training pen to practice with. I can't see any excuse for a patient to not know how to use it. My daughters knew how to use it when they were in elementary school. It's that easy.
