How to divert children’s view to study things other than text books?

These days all the children are looks so busy with their text book studies... In the daily eve times they struggle with their home work a lot.... We can't find their free time to study other useful books like g.k., comics, stories etc., What are the ways to set up their interest in general knowledge?....

I think, school is the place for exploring talent of children, not to charge the children with too many subjects, but they do not interest with them.

Yes, you are right saying... for children for their piece..the only calm place is their school only....the teachers have to set their mind in a proper way...

@gamyam Yes, teacher in school has important role to explore children talent. A good school is the school that can explore and support the children talent. Finding children talent will help the children to find their future when they going older.
