At least, that is what is being said by the New America Foundation. According to their research, since 9/11 twice as many people have died in the United States from violent action by neo-Nazis and other white supremacist groups than at the hands of people who could be described as Muslim terrorists.
However, to listen to some commentators you would think that Americans believe themselves to be in deadly danger from every Muslim in their midst - and there are over 3 million of them! Some of the paranoia about how terrible these people are has to be seen and heard to be believed - and Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson seems to be doing his cause no harm by pandering to this prejudice in his speeches.
New America Foundation says that, of the 26 terrorist attacks carried out on American soil since 9/11, 19 were the work of non-Muslims, and most of those were perpetrated by extreme right-wing groups.
However, Guantanamo Bay does not appear to accepting any new arrivals that happen to be white Christians or other non-Muslims!

To (sort of) quote from one of may all time favourite films - "I hate (Illinois) Nazis".
Extremism in any form is dangerous and I think we may end up taking our eye off the ball if we concentrate too much on only one potential source of extremist attacks. Maybe some of those 19 attacks may have been prevented if the authorities weren't spending all of their time looking in only one direction.
