Trick-or-treating.. fun or begging?

I personally think it is a great fun thing to hand down to every generation, its one day a year of having fun, getting sweets and being kind in a sense of putting up with all the knocking at your door lol I have found a lot of people saying how they hate it and it's begging.. i'd love to know everyones opinions eiter way and why?

I do totally understand where you are coming from, it does sound insane when its thought of like that, i just think where i live it is totally 'the norm' to be done, i think that the kids should always have an adult to take them though, i hate it when they let them go out on their own, even though i did when i was a kid

@Sarah3020 We have Guy Fawkes night less than a week later and I think we don't need Halloween on top. But I'd have to admit that kids making 'Guys' have been demanding money for many decades so it's not so different in some ways.

@boiboing here guy fawks is literally just about fireworks now plus they set them off for weeks before and after, gets quite annoying just one night will do lol

I took my 9 year old son for the first time this year with my niece and nephew and he had a great time. He doesn't even like sweets and chocolates. I think it was just the fact that all his friends do it made him want to as well.

Really? I must say i really enjoy it seeing the kids all happy and having fun :) I think it depends sometimes on how old the kids are though too
