This is my very first post so feel free to comment on what is proper procedure and how many words are expected and can I mention my creations by name.
I also want to introduce myself, so I hope I am doing both. I've spoken to many groups and written for a "Good News newspaper. I worked in industry to earn a living.
I had no aspirations of being an author. I had studied "Wisdom" my whole life since I was six years old. How you learn wisdom? Bad judgment is your best teacher. It hurts, but at least the message sticks.
I was driving one day thinking about "values" when, all of a sudden, I was flooded with thoughts, ideas and what I considered to be facts. I pulled off the road and made an outline, listing all the ideas. I went home that night with enough information to write my first short book.
This same book has expanded over the years and after re-writing it and later expanding it into five books, I finally decided to keep the first book on its own for all time and edit down all five books into one handsome 300 page book.
This process produced books from 1988 to 2011. (Two of these have been translated into Spanish for my friends South of the Border.) Many were given away, many were purchased, but in a world where there are 1.5 million new titles each year, you need to be famous somehow to sell books.
I have been happy to share the wisdom I have collected and I hope we can all share wisdom and caring here, together, on myLot.
SO...
How many of you have written a book, want to write a book or are in the midst of writing a book and what is the subject your heart offers?

Well, first off, this is not your traditional writing site, this requires discussion if you intend to earn. There is not real minimum except there are those people who'll report you if you only write one line as an original discussion, did that learned
There are three icons on the top left, the first is you of course, the second two take you to various members discussions, comments and responses.
If you see something interest just jump into that conversation and add your own quip to it, you'll be surprised how friendly everyone is. Have fun

You are most welcome @todrite I too am still learning and when I have questions I turn to people like @owlwings or @phredwreck who have written many really good guidelines. I'm still not sure how to look up a person but I'm sure either of those two will be most helpful in that regard.

First of all,as a new mylotter, you must know that Mylot has some regulations. I donĀ“t know them by heart.
I have written short story books in my native language. I think that my short stories appeal more to women as they show an intimate world where there no much action.

I just want to add my own welcome. I used to want to write a book, but I'm content now to share my shorter thoughts online. I am humbled by those who have written great books and I cannot see myself writing anything equal to them. I have read a lot of books that I think were not worth reading, and I prefer not to clutter the libraries and ebook sites with something I can't be proud of. If and when God tells me to write a book, I will, but I doubt if it will be fiction.
