My Sister Had Her Appendix Out Yesterday

United States

I guess this goes under you just never know what's going to happen on any day. She had been having stomach pains for a few days and thought she had indigestion or something. Finally the pain got so bad her husband took her to the ER. The doctor said she had appendicitis and it had to come out. Because it hadn't burst, they did laproscopically and she'll be home today.

A lot of people don't get it checked out until the pain is extremely bad. But luckily, they can do it so much quicker these days, and with so much less pain and an easier recovery time than in the olden days.

Sometimes pain is your friend. She called my mom this morning, so she's doing well.

Actually they are finding out that it does perform some important functions, however, she'll be fine without out. It's not the meaningless organ they once thought it was.

Mine ruptured when I was 18 - it wasn't so good...I have a huge scar! Glad your sister was able to have the easier surgery!

Yep, her incision is about an inch long. Much easier to heal and less chance of infeciton.

It reminds me of our third son. On the wedding day of their sister (the youngest in the family), he had to be taken to the hospital for emergency operation to remove his appendix. He was on pain the night before the wedding. But after the operation he watched the video of his sister's wedding on his hospital bed.

That was terrible timing. I'm glad he got to see the video.

I think this shows up the character of your sister. If you have stomach pain for days, she would rush you to the hospital. And yet, when she has stomach pain, she downplays the pain, and claims that it is nothing much, just indigestion. In the end, it takes a wise husband to bring her to the ER.

I know quite a few people who had appendicitis and undergone surgery. Very painful they said ...

We should never ignore pain, it is our body alarm to let us know that something is wrong. I am glad everything went well and that she will be back home soon.

I am glad everything worked out for her. The same thing happened to my husband years ago and he was in the hospital a couple of days before they could figure out what it was.

Oh. the same did happened with my niece too. The last time when she came here, she suddenly felt a heavy pain in stomach. Soon she started to cry. We all arranged a vehicle and took her to hospital and the doctor confirmed that it is appendicitis.

Do your remember when people were in the hospital for 10 days or so after a simple appendectomy? Things have really changed.
