Starting more discussions - So here I go..

I enjoy commenting and responding to posts a lot more than actually writing stuff. I just can't think of anything interesting to share with the fellow mylotters.
As you can tell, I have a total of 4 discussions to-date, I joined youlot about one month ago.
However, I read a post recently that was encouraging frequent commenters to start more discussions. It presented a view point I had not considered previously, by not starting new discussions, I am actually not interacting fully with the community. I may actually be missing the opportunity to help others to earn more.
So here we go, I'm going to take a stab at this "starting a new discussion" thing.. and this is my first post of the day. I'll endeavor to do 1-2 posts a day, I hope I'll get better at this soon..
What motivates you to start new discussions?

I try to post something positive every day. Just a goal I have for myself.

I write about things that bother me, preoccupy me or ideas that I get from television or all over the internet

Yep, that's what the other post was suggesting, to provide fresh materials for others to comment.

When I first started blogging it was hard to find something to write about. Not anymore. You will find the more you interact the more you will find something to write about, even if it is a full blog about something you read about in answer to that post. You also have experiences every day. You can write about those.

I agree! I lead a fairly straight forward life. I get up, I go to lectures. Then I try to do a stint in the library before I head home. Rinse repeat.. not much to go on.

@dodo19 It's the best really! I do enjoy the simplicity of life.. I don't want it to get too interesting that it stresses me out. :)

@Drosophila,Sometime this happens. You want to start a discussion, but your mind is blank. This often happens with me too.But you are on Mylot, that allows you to share your observations about anything around you, anything you do or are doing, anything you have or you want to have....I mean, literally about anything. Now it is up to you how you express your views.

@Drosophila But there are many among us here who have created posts about their very ordinary daily activities. You too must have seen such discussions.

@else34 Absolutely! On the other hand, my daily activities are so straight forward, there's just not a whole lot to go on about, other than get up, study, library, home, eat, sleep..

Yep! I looked at the post guideline, and was surprised that posts needs to be about discussion topics. Rather than blogs of actual daily activities, or so it suggests. I guess, we'll see how it goes! Good luck with your posts too. :)

@Drosophila That's true, but I can't see anything being interesting if even the poster doesn't think it is.

@Drosophila I figure that people don't really want to know about the crappy stuff that goes in my life. They're probably too busy dealing with their own problems!! Keep it light I say!!

I am also asking myself how can I tell if what I will write will interest others. That is why I wrote just few discussions with no much details and personal content. Do what you can and don't rush yourself. No one can tell you what to do, they can only suggest. You are not telling them what to do, do you?

Same, same. I don't often have anything interesting to contribute. But I will give it a shot, if it is to help others.
