Stop Cursing for a Month?

I know I couldn't do this! This is a challenge a nearby church is doing. When I read it I thought no way! It is hockey season And football season. One bad call and I swear like a sailor! Besides sometimes the perfect words are R rated! How about you? Could you stop swearing for an entire month?

I might be able to clean up my language if I isolate myself from other people. And not watch to the news for about a month. That's the real ticket, isn't it? There's a lot about the news which can make those words. I won't say I can weave those seven words you can't say on television together, like some people. But, sometimes it just slips out without thinking of it. You'd think my tongue was slippery. So really the answer is, no, unless I stopped talking or interacting with people. If I stayed in isolation, there's a chance. Granted, there's sometimes where it just pops out. You see something in the news so stupid it pops out. Someone does something. Or you just stub your toe in the middle of the night, it's perfectly understandable in my book. Doubt I could go a week, much less a month.

Yea it would make alot of sense where others may take the pledge not to curse for awhole month we would have a whole new understanding of who we really are.We could get out the money jar and say every time one curses you have to but 1$ in the jar would it fill up fast?

It would fill up fast. And people like me would either stop coming around or I would just stop talking.

@sarahruthbeth22 I think it could also get tired of putting the dollar in and go broke.

That is unfair because I wouldnt even be able to afford the amount of money I would have to put inside the jar I would be writing a BUNCH of IOU's to place into the jar

Hell no. Not me. That is part of the fabric of my being. They are vocabulary words to me. LOL. Honestly, I think everyone curses. Even if they say they don't.

Well I definetly would fail at this because I cuss like a sailor as well. My husband and I are always cussing, it just seems to happen and sometimes you just cant express yourself enough with curse words...Probably a good thing I do not go to that church...

This would be super rough for me. In my current career field, you need to be able to relate to anyone. This goes from the grunts who curse like sailors or the more respectful people with Christian values.

I had stopped cursing and its not even for religious reasons. I just want to sound classy and articulate so I stopped cursing alltogether. Also when I played the videogame Resident evil Revelations 2, The main character Claire Redfield is stuck with a Teenage girl named Moira. Moira curses a lot that I wish I can get zombies to kill her. She makes me realize how awful cursing is.

I'm your polar opposite. I curse a lot but it is mostly revolving around sports. With other real life situations I rarely curse.

I do not swear much.So this won't be a problem. But of course, when some body makes a rule and asks you not to do this or that-I am not sure.

Funny when the grand kids were young my daughter was so strict on this one but her husband always cursed no matter what. Now they are older she does a lot of this herself. I was told off by her for using the word stupid one time. I was a little shocked. She said it was a bad word and could not be used because she didn't want her kids calling each other stupid. Well in 14 years a lot has changed and the teaching of the earlier years is long and forgotten.

One month makes it a long shot. There are so many emotions we curse for. Happiness, shock amazed or daily alarms, traffic, people, news, bills or the occasional drunk spree or injuries. That's asking a lot :)

I don't swear at all actually. I just have always felt uncomfortable when I do it. It's just a weird thing to me I guess.
