November came and the weather has turned toward winter

Eugene, Oregon
November 3, 2015 9:52am CST
We have had days of much needed rain, coupled with some very high double rainbows and cool nights. This morning the temperature hit 37 degrees, very close to freezing. Birds are crowding the feeders this week. Today will be a work day, seven hours, as will Wednesday and Friday. I will be filling in for someone who is taking time off. At almost 8 AM, it is quite foggy here today. I hope all here will have an interesting and productive day.

@JamesHxstatic our weather is gray and damp but still very warm for northern Europe. In fact we have lots of wonderful fall colors but also still lots of green everywhere.

Our leaves have turned here and are beginning to fall. Yet, the grass is still growing like crazy.

It's getting chilly in England too, though we haven't had any frost yet. Don't work too hard

We had a person call in sick yesterday, so I had a full eight hours after all. I work only five today, but we have a big seed delivery. Time will go fast.

Funny how the weather just seems to turn overnight. We are not that cold yet.

It did not get as cold as predicted, only 39. The sun is out this morning and we are in the 40s.

Your blue jay is much prettier than ours down south of you. It snowed in the mountains here at the start of this storm, so it is pretty cold here too. But not your cold in the thirties, our cold is in the fifties. Cold enough for me to switch on the heater. I know, what a wimp.

We have both the California Scrub Jay and the Stellar Jay (as shown) around here, though the Stellar is usually at slightly higher elevations. It gets quite noisy when there is a mutual encounter.

@JamesHxstatic That's right, you would know about the Scrub Jay. I used to have a couple of them that lived in my yard when I was in Ventura for several years. They raised their babies there. I remember once when a cat was after their babies. While the momma and I scared it off, one of the little ones came into my house. The momma was hysterical. I used a towel to cradle the baby bird so I could take it outside. The momma was my "watch bird" after that. She even followed me when I took my dog for a walk.

It has not stayed chilly, but was about that cold a day or two last week. I have noticed more fog in the evenings and it gets quite foggy in our area once it is dark.

It's not yet cold here, but I think that the birds feel that the cold is coming. I have a crowd at my feeders.

We are having and Indian Summer here. It is cold at night but 70s during the day. It's really nice. It's funny to see people happy about mowing the lawn in November!

Back in my place, we are heading towards what we call winter, but for most of you it is as good as summer.
