No Kidding, This Really Happened!

I am sure a lot of us here have experienced being so excited to only get disappointed moments later. But nothing, I guess, compared to the excitement and disappointment this man (in my story) had experienced. One evening at my work as a host in a large grocery store, a middle-aged man approached me and asked if the store sold condoms. I replied yes. He asked me to show him where they are. I could feel he was very excited. He kept glancing outside as if somebody was waiting for him. Not very long he was paying the condom at the self-check-out. He could not focus to what he was doing. I asked him if I could do it for him. He gave me a $20.00-bill and I paid it very quickly. I handed him the condom and his change. He took the condom but told me to keep the change. He hastily left. Man, I was happy to receive a TIP! Who does not? Surprisingly, I was still holding my tip when the man returned to the store looking like he lost thousand bucks in the casino. He looked so disappointed. I asked him what happened. He said: "She left, man. I got to return this condom for a refund!" He was not the only one so disappointed. I was, too! So, have you ever been so excited but ended up very disappointed?

Poor man - he obviously did not have enough faith in himself to believe that he might have another occasion to use them.

He should have saved it for the next would have saved him time and another trip to your grocery store. I hope he gave you another tip for your kind service. I hope you didn't have to return his tip.

Hi, @rosyrose! It feels good to meet you in another site away from Bubblews! We are like hiding from Bubblews! Anyway, I think he decided to return it because he thought that brand was bad luck.

He must've felt embarrassed then. Who knows to this day whatever happened and why she left. Maybe she got tired of waiting and went elsewhere.

That's a funny story. Glad nothing like that ever happened to me when I worked at a grocery store. Not sure I could have kept a straight face. I do feel sorry for him though.

Q, well, that's life. Things like that happen to anyone. It is similar to a job that I already got, but the worker I was supposed to replace changed his mind - - not to quit. And the manager decided to keep him. .

I never let anything that gets me excited to get the better of me, that way if I get disappointed, it's okay, and if it turns out for the better, than I am ready for it!

Oddly enough I tend to get disappointed every time I get my hopes up...and oddly as well, everytime I'm not expecting much, good things seem to happen and surprise me:)
