Why Does Time Fly When We Are Having Fun!

One thing that always managed to annoy me is how fast time seems to fly by when we are having fun or doing something we enjoy. I guess it is just because we are having so much fun we lose track of time and then before we know it is time to go to work or time to go to bed etc. I have to head off to work in 10 mins ...time once again has flown by while I was having fun chatting on here LOL

You see when we are happy and having fun, time flies in a jiffy, however, when we are said or tensed, it appears to us that time is ticking away at a very slow speed. It is only our perceptions, time speeds away in its own pace.

So glad that you were having fun chatting, it's always good to chat :) Somehow we need to slow time down when we are chatting, maybe even stop it for a while :) Hoping work went ok.

Yes, fun times pass fast and painful times are slow moving or so it seems to me.

I guess that is why there are more painful because the time goes by so slow.

I have noticed the same thing, as when I start working in here, time will get away from me, and before I know it, it is lunch time, and then supper time, and then time to go to bed. I do love being here, even if the time does go fast. I am earning everyday, and that is the best part of it.

It is a good thing to have something to pass the time when we are bored :D

@gudheart I never get bored while here, and that is why I am here as much as I am. I enjoy the interaction, and that is why I am here too, is because of it, as I can earn at the same time, and that is absolutely fantastic.

Time seems very fluid. It slows down when you are at work, and speeds up when you are on vacation.

I have noticed that when you are having fun time flies by really fast. When you are doing something boring time drags by really slow.

That's a great question that I used to ask myself all the time when I was in school. Why does summer vacation pass by in the blink of an eye when the school year seems like it's eternal? XD

@gudheart,Yes,time flies past while you make fun or enjoy doing something.Perhaps that's why a fun is a fun.

I notice too how time flies past me when I'm rushing something. I think someone is adjusting the clock based on my moods and the situation.

Unfortunately that is too true. Time flies when you are having fun and stands completely still when you are not.

God almighty's timer starts working. Otherwise it is so old that it gets stuck most of the time.

@gudheart Sir / Ma'am. One day Einstein was asked - define special theory of relativity. He said - suppose you are sitting with a girl. Even an hour seems like a minute. Now, if you are sitting on a hot stove, a minute looks like an hour. This is relativity. Now, this leads to 2 conclusions. Both answer your questions. 1. This happens due to relativity. A scientific phenomenon. 2. This is only related to appearance. Has nothing to do with actual speed. Now, this was the basics. Coming to the main answer to your question. You are enjoying what you are doing. So, you do not care about the time. You totally ignore what is happening because you are concentrated towards your work. So, whether time passes quickly or slowly, you are not moved. On the other hand, if you are doing something which you do not enjoy, your mind focuses on only 1 thing - why isn't time passing at all? Time dilation is an important part of Einstein's theory of relativity and is derived from above mentioned philosophy.

It's strange isn't it? Time goes so slowly if you're waiting for something delicious to cook or if the dentist is holding something against your tooth for a minute or whatever.
