Who does want to be alone? No one of course. It is better to have company whom you can share everything you want to.
But its still depending on the people around you. Sometimes it is best to be alone especially when you are surrounded by with people who annoy you most of the times. This is very true especially in the work place.
Friends can also be considered. It is better to have few but genuine friends or much better to be alone than to be with the company of bad friends.

I know there are people who can't be alone and would live under the worst possible conditions just so they won't be alone. I could never understand it.

Many of them even pretend to be different so they will get accepted and get friends.
Teenagers tend to put such masks instead of being who they are, say what they believe they need to say, do what they want to do...
That's so sad that those people wake up some years later and find that their time of being a teenager was with putting a metaphoric mask on their face.

I agree. I remember, many years ago, one relationship in particular really made me realize that. This person drank and was always trying to create drama. After about 6 months of excuses, I realized that life was just much smoother and happier when this person was not around. Wow, once that thought hit me, I made up my mind. That evening I broke it off, and I said pretty much what you've said here. "There are much worse things that being alone, and one of them would be to stay with you."
It was a lesson I've never forgotten.

I remember when I was a small kid, only 5 years old, I used to go out and play with my friends in front of my house, they were 4 and 3 years old. I loved it, I waited everyday to go out and visit them. The one who was 4 years old is a lot like me and we can just hang out and talk for hours.
When I see people around me, most of them are very different than me. When I was at school and junior high and in high school, the differences made me to be quiet and not to try to get involved with what others talked about, I didn't want to be laughed at. Being alone was the best option for me.
I sometimes regret I didn't find the way to get more involved with my class, to feel free to be who I was, to be myself and to understand the side of the others...It required some understanding of psychology. I know I could practice soccer and basketball but, I didn't like it too much. I could play with the others, listen to their conversations and learn what drives them...

@mor You said you had regrets sometimes for not finding a way to get more involved but at that point I could understand that you made a choice for not doing so. Sometimes we make choices in life for some reasons.

It is better to be alone for temporary phase, if you talk about work place. However, I am of the opinion that you need to have interaction with others to get more exposure. All are not like us, some may even offend or criticize us but this should not deter us from interacting with more and more people, subject to availability of time and exigencies of our own work.

I'm sorry to hear your son has lost his job.
I don't like the idea of renting an apartment: it is like throwing money to the garbage every month. This is what happens when someone has more apartments than he needs and the other has none. I think it is the best thing for everyone to have just 1 apartment and no more. If only the government would do something about it.

I feel sorry for that. I know there are no words to comfort you and all I can offer are my prayers.

I live alone because of a divorce. I don't really like being alone, but on the other hand, I can come and go as i please without anyone telling me I can't do this or that. I wish I were still married, but I don't think I will ever get married again. i have been alone for 8 years so I have learned to accept it.

@cherigucchi It has been hard, but I have been coping okay, but it has been hard, as I am not used to being on my own, as I was married 35 years. I will make it fine though, as I have so far.

Sometimes we just learn to get used to something we were not actually accustomed before.

Some people are not comfortable being alone and that is too bad. As you say, it is better to be alone than with someone who is bad company.

Being alone is easier nowadays as there is so much one can do on one's own - being on the Net is one of those activities.

Yes, to be alone, sometime is the best way to make us avoid some hurt cases because have bad friends, a bad boyfriend or bad relatives. To be alone often make us have much time to know about ourselves.

I was 'alone' for 16 years and enjoyed it. You have to like yourself to spend time with yourself.
