On my way home the other day...I thought....Wow there are a lot of restaurants out there! There are so many different types of restaurants, from fast food to small mom and pop types, and all the way up to large chains. Do we really need so many restaurants? Where do they get all the food from and what do they do with the left overs? Do people still cook? Can the youth of today make a regular home cooked meal? I mean no Microwave stuff!!! What will the future be like if people do forget how to cook? Soon people mite not be able to afford or get good ingredients to cook for themselves. Crazy huh?!?! Just wondering what YOU think?

I never learned to cook. My mother was always working (single mom) and never taught me with all of her double over time. So I grew up on microwaveable meals and instant dinners. They called us latchkey kids during that time. Honestly, most of the restaurants throw out the food, but some have become more conscious and started to donate to local food shelters.

@Valxxia But what if I already like the way my husband cooks? lmao

That saying that "nobody cooks anymore" is a myth. I've never in my life met a woman that does not prepare real home cooked meals.

@Marcyaz I don't understand that. They should keep trying at it. Nobody gets it right the first few times, but you'll get better with experience. Plus cooking is a good way to bond with your family.

I have a tendency to think there might be to many or the fast food put them in where they think would do the most good for their restaurants and hows its gonna venture well they must have good support.

@Valxxia The sad part is if they have to many restaurants they need to think about what happens if the restaurant isn't doing well then they have to rethink their postion.

Good point. I've been eating healthier food for over a year and lost unexpected weight, because of it, besides exercise. I've been mostly eating healthy food and do frozen foods on my yoga nights, and when I'm tired and have no ideas for supper. But I do tend to create my own dishes and meals somehow and put them in the oven and toaster oven--reheat foods in my microwave though.

I can't afford to eat out much, so we cook at home mostly. I've already started teaching my 12 year old daughter how to make easy things, or a few steps of the more difficult things. The boys have very little interest in learning how to cook, but my daughter loves to bake and is allright with cooking.

@Valxxia My boys are just lazy, and we eat microwave meals quite frequently so marrying a girl who can't cook would be just fine with them. My oldest will cook when he has to if he's home alone.

I love to cook, so enjoyable :)
These days with fast restaurants many younger people don't know how to cook.

All of my kids can cook and they are good cooks. My oldest son married a woman that can not cook. So he does all the cooking.

I think it's healthier to learn to cook so that you have control of what you actually eat. Eating around a table as a family is so crucial to mental health and family bonding, but it's becoming rarer in some circles.

Fast food has become the norm nowadays despite the risk they pause. The business is booming and customers are always available

@Valxxia I think people have much to do nowadays to an extent there is hardly time left for cooking and so restaurants come in

Here on the islands we don't have so many places like this. I know people here would rather cook at home than go out to eat. Now and then we like to go and take some food if we are late getting home and have no time to cook. Normally we do this maybe once a month or once in two month. I would rather eat my cooking than another person for some reason. I like cooking so it is no big deal for me to cook at home.

I think there are a lot of people who mostly eat out. I don't like cooking but my husband does so he does most of the cooking now. We rarely eat out.

Having restaurants and affordable eateries is good for the public, especially those who work unusual hours and have to eat out.
I think having too many fast food is not good, but having a variety of restaurants is good since everyone can try out new food in their home town.

Home cooked food is considered a luxury these days. When we have guests coming from the US for example they just wait for home cooked food.

It would be dreadful if we forgot how to cook. When you do it yourself you know what goes into it
