I got a raise at work today! A decent sized raise too.
I was called in to the manager's office under the guise of finally getting keys to the doors. I've been working at this job since April, hired on full-time in August, and was promised keys after 6 months.. which is now up.
So I step into the office and they tell me it's time for my quarterly review.
I've had 1 review thus far, and that was when I was first hired on permanent. It wasn't bad.. it was pretty much middle of the line, everything was good.
Today's review was a little better. Everything was really good, some things were even great. I'm graded on a score of 1-5 and I got all 4's and a 5...
Then they informed me I was getting a 50 cent raise per hour. Thanked me for my work, handed me my keys and I was on my way!
So today was a good day!
How was your day?

That is great news congrats. My job quit doing raises as it wasn't in their budget anymore but it's okay. I still make enough to pay bills and then some. Hope you went out to celebrate after your good news.

If you call grocery shopping celebrating, then yes, LOL! I still can't afford to celebrate, LOL! My husband is in that situation. He makes more than anyone else in the company because he's been there 11 years. He gets a 10 cent raise once a year and that's it. At least it's something.

I don't think I've been working hard.. I just have a better work ethic than most people. I don't show up expecting to be paid for nothing. When there's a job to do, I do it. I prefer to keep myself busy so the day goes by faster. If there are no members I find something to do and that doesn't involve staring at my phone like some of my coworkers.

Your bosses will know that you don't sit around doing nothing as it is better to find things to do when it is a slow day at work.

Too bad that mostly goes to taxes. At least I will see a bit of extra money in my paycheck.

Just getting in and out of rooms I need access to, like the vault room, and the back door to get in and out.

This is actually my 2nd 50 cent raise. When I was hired on permanent I got a 50 cent raise plus more hours. So I've gone up $1 in the past 6 months.

@crazyhorseladycx Yeah, that's about the norm around here. I think mine was so good just because I'm really doing that good at work. I'm sure I won't be expecting another large raise in the future.

I remember my working days, we got our raises the same time each year there were no surprises and then there were bonuses announced and we got paid for unused sick and vacation days...I'll take retirement over all that anyway! Enjoy your extra money.

I get sick time. In 3 more months I'll get vacation time. I believe we get a yearly bonus if we hit our goals, and this year I think we're doing well on our goals. As for raises I didn't expect to get another one so soon as I was just hired on and of course got a bit of a bump when I was hired on from a temp. I figured I'd get something after a year.

That is what we're working on doing... we've been doing really good for a few months but with Christmas upon us I may not be able to work on the debts as well as I have been.
