Have you found real joy in life?

Have you found real joy in your life? .. This morning, I came across this question from one of my Facebook friends and I have been thinking about it all day today. Have I found joy?.. Joy is defined as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.. What a wonderful thing to experience then.. "Great pleasure and happiness" .. I am writing down all those moments of great pleasure and happiness that I have encountered in my life. I'm sure I had many of those moments but somehow got lost in all the chaos of life's ugly reality.. But before I reach my 60s I will do my best to dig up those few moments of joy I experienced in the past and treasure them as I make an endeavour to gather more moments of great pleasure and happiness as I move forward in life. Have you found real joy in life? Bess

We should want happiness. It's an awesome feeling. We have to choose to be happy and keep good company. That helps. Thanking God for each happy moment.

Life is a precious from God, so despite what it stores in life, we have to be happy and treasure every happiness for that is how we become strong to fight all odds and triumph at the end....happy at the end..love life....

If we go by your definition that joy is "Great pleasure and happiness" then I have found it when I came to realize that God exists, he cares and has a beautiful future prepared for those that want it. That's the best joy that I have found. Also, many great people in my life, my children, nature and so on.

Yes, like you, I have learned to know the true God and become friends with him. And of course - having good friends who care. Our generous Father gives us so many good gifts and offers his children a wonderful future. This is one of my favorite scriptures, and doing this gives me great joy. "At that time those who fear Jehovah spoke with one another, each one with his companion, and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening. And a book of remembrance was written before him for those fearing Jehovah and for those meditating on his name." (Malachi 3:16)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts @1hopefulman We all have different ways in finding joy. I am not a religious person and I do not think of God as a person who plan for my future. But I do understand where you are coming from..

@buenavida Thank you for stopping by to share your thoughts.. I am familiar with Jehovah's Witnesses teachings.. But the God I see in Nature is neither male nor female so I stopped belonging to any organised religions ..

Joy is relative. For each of us it could be defined differently. I get joy in little things and so I could say I am fortunate that I find it ever so often.

I thought I had once. It was for a very short moment, but since the source of that joy turned out to be a sham, I am thinking it was not true joy. So no, in my life, no I have not. I have experienced something very close to it though when I stood at the sea shore and watched as the waves crashed against the sand and felt the wild wind on my face and in my lungs after having been in a really bad place..it was such a joy to be where I was. A sort of exhilaration.

@TiarasOceanView Yes my friend, I have encountered real joy a few times but they were only short lived.. Maybe it's impossible to attain lasting real joy.. But those moments are comforting if we remember them in times of distress

I have had an exciting life as a nomad..new places, new faces, challenges and excitement. Also hardships & struggles but thru it all there was joy. Joy of being alive, raising two children alone, joy of being loved by my children and loving myself. Joy is pleasure, yes, but it is also attitude. It is appreciation for life and nature and when that exists in you, even during the difficult times you can look at your life and feel joy. So yes, I would have to say I have found joy.

@epiffanie (220), Yes, I have found joy. I can't ask for anything more, well, a few things I would like to happen, but since I have totally dedicated my life to Jesus, I have total joy. Even with things that seem hard, is so much easier than it was before. I have to say I have found joy and peace.

The joy that I have experienced in my life was when I could call myself my boss and my animals and not in that order. I would say my animals have given me so much joy to watch them as they grow up and how they entertained or entertain me with things they do.
