A Dream of the Future

I was 11 years old when my father was working as senior officer in the finance ministry of the moon when he got his transfer order in February 2099. He was posted to Earth at the head office at Chennai in India. We went by our private rocket and reached the earth in one hour. Then I remembered that it took almost 84 hours for first the rocket to reach moon from earth in the last century.
My father wanted to put me in a super school with good quality education like in the moon. Everybody in father’s office told that the school near the state assembly downtown is the best school on earth for the past 100 years. I passed entrance exam and got admitted in that school. From that day onwards I started going to the school which was 60 kilometers away from our house on my private helicopter at a safe speed of 5000 kilometers per hour.
My first day at school made me totally surprised because the latest technology, strict discipline and good atmosphere that I saw at that school was not even available at my school in the moon. I cleared all the security checking and then parked my helicopter inside the school. There I found a small robot sitting alone on top of a box, taking care of the students’ helicopters. After helping me to identify my exclusive parking slot, that robot showed me the way to go to my class room.
There were more surprises for me inside the class room. Although the teacher did not speak a single word, we were all able to “hear” her questions through telepathy. After three students silently answered all her questions, I could suddenly HEAR the teacher THINKING “Hey, do you know what is the meaning of rain?” In an attempt to answer the question, I closed my eyes and started imagining my school holidays in the moon when I used to play in the rain. Suddenly I felt that very cold water was splashing on my face and I started shivering. When I opened my eyes, I saw my sister standing near the bed with a glass of water. She had playfully thrown water on my face to wake me. Then I remembered that we are still in 2015 and before going to sleep last night, I was thinking about the essay “A dream of the future” given by my class teacher.
