The Past

Do you beat yourself up for mistakes you have made in the past? Everyone makes mistakes and sometimes if we are lucky we learn from those mistakes.( I once fell down an entire flight of stairs in front of a boy that I really liked. I learned to walk carefully and gracefully down a set of stairs after that humiliating moment. ) I have met people in my life though that really are way too hard on themselves. Perfection really isn't a character trait healthy people look for in others. I really admire those who can pick themselves up, dust themselves off and learn from the mistakes they made. Why are we so hard on ourselves anyways? What mistakes have you made in the past that you are having a hard time getting up from? Have you made a mistake you can laugh about now? What are your thoughts? (PS keep in mind I do realize there are some mistakes that cause unchangeable damage and somehow they stick with us, but I believe those kind of mistakes can be offered as a warning to others)

Thats a cool tip . Think like a proton. Somethings we can't touch or see (too small) but very powerful. Positive thoughts are so important. Thanks for that

I've made a lot of mistakes, I try to learn from them so that I don't repeat them, but that doesn't always happen.

I try to learn from my mistakes. Negativity causes only hurt so I try to keep a positive attitude!

Negativity is indeed the cause of a lot of hurt..including hurting our own self. A positive attitude is always welcome in my world! :)

I made one fatal mistake in my life and that was getting married. Never again. But from that worthless marriage came two beautiful awesome kids. And I love them more than anything.

@CRanney I am with someone, the right someone now. But to get married, well, I cannot do it. And this woman I am with deserves it. Luckily she don't want to get married either.

I am a firm believer in tomorrow is another day, if it is good enough for Scarlet O'Hara it is good enough for me. Mistakes happen and while some are more serious than others there is usually some way to recover. Welcome to MyLot.

I can't think of a good example at the moment, but if we acknowledge our mistakes we become wiser. Then we can move on.

That's very true. I try to do this. Sometimes I am unaware of my mistakes like in social settings but I am becoming wiser. :)

I think we all are guilty of this but as long as we don't get stuck there. Its good to look back once and a while but we also need to look forward I think :)

We cannot travel to time back to correct our mistakes but we have to make our future sensibly

Sometimes I wish I could go back in time to change the past where I wouldn't have been friends with a girl who became a bully. But then I often have to remind myself If I haven't met her I would haven't met my best-friend.

@JESSY3236 oh no! I am so sorry that you were bullied. I have had that happen to me too and its really hard to not change when then happens. I know when it happened to me it changed me. I am glad you got a best friend out of that ordeal though.

I don't really worry too much about past mistakes; quite a pointless activity, as there is nowt to be done
