R eading some post about how to stop getting angry I thught of my dear grandpa Rchey. He always said common sense sadly is not very common at all. Most folkds used do not to count to ten or 1 0 if you are angry or walk off and decline fighting with the other person.; If you are called a coward for not returning someone's angry tirade tell them you do not want to be sent to jail for hitting him or her or be fined a large chunk of money Then do just walk away. He who runs away lives to fight another day or just use common sense.

These days it seems to me that less and less people use their common sense. It is very sad.

I'm not one to run away.. But, I do agree with the count to ten. Wasn't it Ben Franklin or someone like that that said that common sense ain't so common.

Today's generation is quite low with patience and very high with the ego. They have too many sources to vent out their anger, frustration unlike us, when we had only a very limited space to vent out. Commonsense has always been uncommon.

@Hatley book learning is useful, but I wonder if common sense isn't more useful

Common sense really is a misnomer - it should've been called "proper sense".

The most common of the common things.

I've actually thought of that. My words would be something like, "No, Sir. I don't want to do time over you." I actually have a lot to lose. Any criminal record would probably mean no more work with younguns, no more work for CDCR, etc.

yes if o ne thinks of the consequences it will stop your anger even wityh a police office who seems upset as commonsense willprevail on both sides.

@Hatley I would NEVER be disrespectful toward a police officer, even if I disagreed with what he was doing or how he was acting. If he (or she) was inappropriate with me, I'd attempt to get identifying information like a badge or plate number.

I think impulse control is sadly lacking in this world. People seem to think that they are entitled to everything they want immediately and they get violent when they don't get it.
