Earth Quake In Indonesia

I hope no one was injured in the earthquake that happened in Indonesia today. When I heard that on the news my heart skipped a beat. When my oldest daughter was 18 she flew across the world (to where I say is the farthest place in the world she could have gotten from home) to Indonesia. There she spent one week in several villages and helped out. Since her return Indonesia has a special place in our entire families heart. She shared so many wonderful stories and got to witness first hand how different a place it is than our Western World. She is now studying to return there to teach English one day. All the news reports I read said there were no reports of injuries but I am sure a lot of people were very frightened. My thoughts are with them tonight.

Whether it is nearby or far away we need to remember that disasters happen to real people and they are hurt and scared and without power and so forth. I think it is really neat that your daughter now wants to return to Indonesia.

I totally agree with you. I have gotten used to the idea of my daughter returning a little more each year :) She is now 20 and has 3 more years of schooling to finish so I have a few more years to get used to it lol

That's sad. It does seem that these natural disasters are happening more and more lately. Storms are getting more violent, it does make you wonder if this global warming has something to do with it, or the fact that the planet is actually tilting in a different position.

It might be. I'm not sure what the cause of it is but I agree they are changing from when I was younger. I was surprised to see the Hurricane that was in the South..really peter out to be not much of a storm but I know still people were effected by it.

@CRanney I have seen major changes in the weather since I was small also. That's why I said that. It makes sense to me.

I had not read or heard anything today about that earthquake. I hope that nobody was seriously injured either.

News reports this morning say there was at least 5 quakes in the region where 200000 people live. But I don't know about injuries. There must not have been any physical ones anyways.
